System Administrator / Security Engineer (f/m/d)

FTS is looking for a hands-on System Administrator / Security Engineer to strengthen our IT and security operations.

In this role, you will be responsible for the secure, reliable and efficient operation of our IT infrastructure and will play an important role in protecting our systems and services. The position combines traditional system administration with operational cybersecurity, security monitoring and continuous improvement of our security environment.

Our flagship platform, Strix, enables authorities around the world to perform sophisticated AML/CFT risk assessments, collect regulatory data, analyse risks, and support evidence-based supervision.

The Role

System Administration & Infrastructure

• Administer, maintain, and monitor FTS Servers and PCs (Windows tech stack)
• Manage Microsoft infrastructure and services, including Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Exchange and IIS
• Manage virtualized environments, including VMware/vSphere
• Perform system configuration, patching, upgrades, backups and recovery activities
• Manage user accounts, permissions, access rights and security configurations
• Support network infrastructure, VPNs, firewalls and related services
• Troubleshoot system, network and infrastructure issues and ensure reliable day-to-day operation

Security Engineering & Monitoring

• Monitor systems, networks and security events for suspicious activity and potential threats
• Operate and maintain SIEM and security monitoring solutions
• Configure, maintain and monitor firewalls and Web Application Firewalls (WAF)
• Analyze security alerts, logs and incidents and coordinate appropriate response measures
• Support endpoint security, EDR/antimalware and vulnerability management
• Perform regular vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation and patching
• Review and continuously improve system hardening and security configurations
• Support incident response, investigation and documentation
• Assist with penetration testing activities and remediation of identified findings

Information Security & Compliance

• Support FTS's ISO 27001 Information Security Management System (ISMS)
• Maintain technical security documentation, procedures and system records
• Provide evidence for security controls, audits and security assessments
• Contribute to risk assessments and implementation of appropriate technical controls
• Support continuous improvement of FTS's security architecture and security processes

Skills & Requirements

• Several years of professional experience in system administration, IT infrastructure and/or cybersecurity
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Windows environments
• Practical experience with network and infrastructure security
• Experience with SIEM and security monitoring
• Experience with firewalls and WAF technologies
• Good understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, routing and network security
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware/vSphere
• Knowledge of vulnerability management, system hardening and patch management
• Understanding of cybersecurity threats, attack vectors and incident response
• Ability to analyze logs and security events and identify unusual or malicious activity
• Structured, independent and security-conscious approach to work
• Good command of English

Nice to Have

• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and IIS security
• Experience with Microsoft 365 and Exchange administration
• Experience with EDR/XDR solutions
• Experience with IDS/IPS technologies
• PowerShell or other scripting/automation experience
• Knowledge of Azure/Azure DevOps environments
• Experience working within an ISO 27001-certified environment
• Relevant certifications in cybersecurity, Microsoft, networking or infrastructure

According to collective bargaining agreement, the gross annual salary for pay grade ST1 Standard Level is € 64.554,00 p.a. FTS envisions a salary of EUR 68.000,00 p.a. for this position, depending on experience.

Must reside in Austria in Vienna or surrounding area, have EU citizenship or have existing work permit, work from home, meetings in-person occur in Vienna.
