Lead System Innovation as our System Architect (Research & Development)

As a System Architect (R&D), you are responsible for defining, maintaining, and safeguarding the system architecture of our bioprocessing products and platforms. You translate customer needs, stakeholder requirements, regulatory expectations, and technical constraints into clear system concepts, requirements, and design directions.

In this role, you act as the technical compass within multidisciplinary development projects. You connect software, electronics, mechanics, quality, manufacturing, and customer requirements into one coherent system architecture, enabling development teams to make well-informed decisions and deliver robust, high-quality products.

Working closely with Hardware and Software Engineering, Product Management, Project Management, , Quality, Operations, Service, suppliers, and other Getinge sites, you play a key role in developing innovative solutions that meet customer needs while balancing technical, regulatory, and business objectives.

You have the ability to simplify complex technical concepts and communicate them effectively to a wide range of stakeholders, from engineers and project teams to management and customers. With your broad systems perspective, you understand the interdependencies between hardware, software, and application, and recognize how architectural decisions ultimately contribute to product performance, customer value, and business success.

By providing architectural direction and guiding key technical decisions, you bridge the gap between technology, customer needs, and business objectives. In doing so, you help drive the development of innovative, high-quality solutions that meet both market demands and future strategic goals.

What will you do?

• Define, maintain, and own the overall system architecture for new and existing products.
• Translate customer needs, market requirements, and stakeholder expectations into clear functional and technical requirements for software, electronics, and mechanical systems.
• Develop and communicate architecture concepts, design principles, interfaces, and technical roadmaps.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary project teams.
• Balance trade-offs between performance, cost, reliability, manufacturability, compliance, and customer value.
• Support system-level design reviews, requirements management, verification, and validation activities.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, and architectural challenges early in the development process and define mitigation strategies.
• Ensure alignment between R&D disciplines, project managers, product management, quality teams, and external partners.
• Evaluate the impact of design changes throughout the product lifecycle.
• Ensure architecture decisions are documented, traceable, and compliant with applicable regulations and quality requirements.
• Promote structured product development and continuous improvement within the R&D organization.

Knowledge, skills and experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in product development, systems engineering, system architecture, or a similar technical role.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary development environments involving hardware, software, and system integration.
• Experience with requirements engineering, risk management, design reviews, and verification & validation processes.
• Experience in a regulated environment is considered a strong advantage.
• Knowledge of GMP principles and/or bioprocessing applications is preferred.
• Ability to make complex technical trade-offs and communicate them effectively to various stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
