The Role

We are seeking a System Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and optimize IT systems and infrastructure supporting business operations. This part-time remote role is suited to a technically skilled professional who can troubleshoot complex environments, manage system performance, strengthen reliability, and collaborate effectively across technology teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, maintain, and optimize enterprise systems and infrastructure.
• Monitor system performance, availability, capacity, and overall operational health.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, operating system, network, and infrastructure issues.
• Administer servers, virtual environments, cloud platforms, and core IT services.
• Implement system updates, patches, upgrades, configurations, and maintenance activities.
• Support backup, recovery, monitoring, security, and business continuity processes.
• Investigate recurring incidents and perform root-cause analysis to improve system reliability.
• Collaborate with network, security, development, support, and infrastructure teams.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, system configurations, and operational procedures.
• Recommend improvements that enhance performance, scalability, security, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• 3+ years of professional experience in systems engineering, infrastructure, IT operations, or a related field preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Windows and/or Linux server environments and system administration.
• Familiarity with virtualization, cloud platforms, networking, storage, monitoring, and enterprise infrastructure.
• Understanding of system security, access management, backup, disaster recovery, and patch management.
• Experience with scripting or automation tools for system administration is advantageous.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple technical priorities independently in a remote environment.
• Professional certifications are not required unless specifically relevant to the role.
