Help strengthen the security of a complex technology environment that supports critical operations

At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together. If you join us, you can play your part as a System Configuration Specialist at any of our main UK locations.

The role

As a System Configuration Specialist, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the security, stability and compliance of Babcock’s IT estate. Working within a specialist team, you'll help protect thousands of users and systems by ensuring vulnerabilities are addressed, security standards are maintained, and critical updates are deployed effectively.

This is an exciting opportunity to apply and further develop your expertise in systems management, vulnerability remediation, operating system deployment and security compliance within a large-scale enterprise environment. Your work will directly contribute to keeping vital services secure and resilient, supporting the important work we do across defence, aerospace and engineering.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Work closely with Security Operations Centre and Information Assurance teams to maintain a secure operating environment.
  • Facilitate and executing approved vulnerability patches and software updates across the estate.
  • Deploy system changes through established change management processes.
  • Monitor and maintaining Microsoft patch compliance and anti-malware services across client and server environments.
  • Manage configuration baselines and supporting enterprise systems management activities using Microsoft tooling.

This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days onsite and days working from home.

Essential experience of the Systems Configuration Specialist

  • Demonstrable experience in vulnerability management and patch management.
  • Strong PowerShell scripting skills and experience supporting Microsoft Configuration Manager environments.
  • Experience managing operating system deployment, application deployment, patching and endpoint security across server and client platforms.
  • Experience working within a large-scale enterprise environment supporting significant endpoint estates.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, support tools and group policy management.

Qualifications for the Systems Configuration Specialist

We value difference and don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience and/or willingness to learn then we would like to hear from you.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.

Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions. This means that your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held. Further details are available at United Kingdom Security Vetting: clearance levels - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).
