Systems Data Consultant ⚡ Energy Systems Data Consultant (Medior) 📊 🌍 Now partnering with a leading company in the energy sector! 📍 🗣️ Fluent Dutch and/or French + English required | 👤 Medior profile (3+ years) Are you a data-savvy professional with a genuine passion for the energy transition? 🔋 We're looking for a medior consultant with proficient coding skills and strong interest in the energy sector to help build the right data infrastructure, run and analyze simulations, and deliver state-of-the-art studies to plan the energy transition! ☀️💨 We need someone who will always question the scenario data — someone able and willing to challenge projections (PV, wind, H2, thermal units...) for Belgium or other EU countries, and assess whether they're ambitious or realistic. 🔍 🌟 About the Role Expert knowledge on data analysis (data mining, data gathering/processing in VBA, Excel, R/Python), data visualization, and energy systems scenarios. The consultant will support different tasks across projects within the SMA team: 👉 Use, and where possible improve, data management processes at SMA 👉 Contribute to and improve data collection processes and definitions — creation of scenarios and model-building datasets 👉 Support model building, including quality checks on built models 👉 Support impact assessment of model building (demand, renewables, flexibility & storage assumptions) and quality checks on models and results 🛠️ Example Tasks 🔸 Consolidate historical data into a model input dataset 🔸 Collect projection scenarios from EU countries and challenge the data against defined storylines 🔸 Create & review tools in R/Python/VBA/Excel to input/change parameters in the ANTARES model 🔸 Use and improve visualizations of simulation outputs (R, Power BI, QGIS, etc.) 📈 🔸 Critically analyze algorithm results and help identify key trends 🔸 Data engineering and interfaces between tools 🔸 Other tasks (not yet defined) ✅ Hard Skills 🔹 R or Python (must-have) — proficiency in one required, experience with both a plus 🐍 🔹 Excel (must-have) and VBA (nice-to-have) — used for analysis and as an interface for R/Python scripts 🔹 ANTARES (nice-to-have) — RTE's economic dispatch tool for simulating electricity markets hourly; input/output interface knowledge plus general understanding valued 🔹 Any experience with market simulations is a plus ✅ Soft Skills 🔹 Medior profile — 3+ years' experience minimum 🔹 Knowledge of and strong interest in the energy market 🔹 Ability to work independently and in a team 🔹 Analytical and innovative mindset 🔹 Fluent Dutch and/or French, plus English 🗣️ 📩 Ready to help shape the future of the energy transition through data?
