Job Description

The Systems Engineer I role is to maintain and support systems within the organization. They work with other Engineers and departments to contribute to technology maintenance and projects.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Install, monitor, and manage operating systems, application software and system management tools.
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks and identify possible solutions.
  • Maintain backups, security, and redundancy strategies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system and application errors or other technical issues.
  • Manage and maintain server and application components during maintenance periods as required
  • Update firmware and required device profiles when necessary
  • Engage in quality control procedures to ensure efficient and operational systems.
  • Maintain and support an HA environment following company standards.
  • Collaborate with the security team to analyze and mitigate identified vulnerabilities.
  • Assist in testing and implementation of IT infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Actively participates in team projects to meet deliverables.
  • Maintain documentation related to various company systems and applications.
  • Provide efficient and accurate service while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Engage with supervisor and other team members regularly with reports on project status, activities, and achievements.
  • Participate in the response to critical system issues during and after business hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Core technologies include Windows 10 OS, MS Server 2012/2019, VMWare vSphere and Horizon View management.
  • Experience managing Active Directory Users and Computers, Group Policy Objects, groups and nested groups.
  • Familiarity with software licensing and hardware support.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals and troubleshooting (e.g., DNS, TCP/IP, VLANS, NetBIOS, switching/routing, fiber channel.)
  • Experience with basic O365 fundamentals and administration
  • Knowledge and experience with basic scripting such as MS-DOS batch files and PowerShell.
  • Any knowledge related to Mobile Device Management a plus
  • Experience in troubleshooting and customer support for complex technical issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize requests and projects based on impact and urgency
  • Highly organized with good follow-up skills
  • Deals professionally with sensitive and confidential matters and materials.
  • Customer service oriented
  • Team player – ability to gain the trust and support of team members and able to drive cross-functional solutions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or University preferred and a minimum of 2 or more years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification is a plus (VCP5+, CCA, MCSE, MCITP, NCDA, NCSA).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for prolonged periods and occasionally walk, stand, bend, stoop, and lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform the job.

Salary Range: $68,315.00-$126,382.75

Salary Range:

$68,315.00 - $126,383.00

Salary may be determined on several factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, experience, education, geographical location and requirements stated in job description.
