The role

We are seeking a motivated Systems Engineer - Research & Innovation to join a dynamic engineering team delivering advanced Defence technologies, concept demonstrators and rapid prototypes.

As a Systems Engineer, you will work alongside experienced systems, software and specialist engineers to design, develop, integrate and validate R&D capabilities across multiple technology domains.

Further, the successful candidate will:

• Develop systems engineering artefacts for Defence R&D, proof-of-concept and rapid prototyping programs.
• Elicit and analyse stakeholder requirements to deliver fit-for-purpose capability outcomes.
• Support system architectures, requirements baselines and technical data packages.
• Align capabilities with product roadmaps, engineering strategies and future needs.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Defence Delivery teams and multidisciplinary stakeholders.
• Support configuration management of assigned systems and engineering assets.
• Participate in technical reviews, design reviews and stakeholder workshops.
• Support the installation, integration, verification, validation and maintenance of prototypes.
• Serve as a technical point of contact for assigned R&D systems and capabilities.
  

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and a 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

• Experience across one or more stages of the Systems Engineering lifecycle.
• Understanding of systems engineering principles, processes and methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical mindset.
• Experience developing technical documentation and engineering artefacts.
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Qualifications in Systems Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline
  
  

Security Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain:

• Australian Defence Security Clearance (NV1)
• Access to ITAR-controlled information
