The Opportunity:
Join our team as a Tableau Administrator and play a key role in advancing enterprise analytics in a dynamic SAP and federal technology environment. You’ll help shape a secure, scalable, and high‑performing Tableau platform that empowers users across the organization. This role offers the chance to collaborate with SAP experts, data engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and business leaders to deliver reliable, compliant, and impactful data visualization capabilities.
Responsibilities:
As a Tableau Administrator, you will:
- Administer and maintain Tableau Server across development, test, and production environments, including installation, upgrades, patching, and performance optimization.
- Manage user provisioning, authentication, permissions, and access controls to ensure secure and compliant data access.
- Configure and support SSO/LDAP integrations and identity provider workflows to streamline authorized user onboarding.
- Oversee Tableau license management (Creator, Explorer, Viewer), troubleshooting allocation and connectivity issues.
- Support published data sources and workbooks, including extract scheduling, credential management, and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Monitor system performance, logs, availability, and failed jobs; proactively resolve operational issues.
- Integrate Tableau with SAP systems, including SAP S/4HANA, SAP BW/4HANA, SAP ERP, SAP BTP, SAP Analytics Cloud, and SAP BW ODBO connectivity.
- Maintain connectors, service accounts, and SAP data access mechanisms, ensuring stable integration and resolving connectivity issues.
- Develop and enforce governance standards for workbook promotion, naming conventions, documentation, and security best practices.
- Coordinate security, audit, backup, recovery, and compliance requirements with cybersecurity and infrastructure teams.
- Support migrations of workbooks, data sources, and projects between environments.
- Create and maintain runbooks, SOPs, support guides, and technical documentation.
- Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for incidents, service requests, and problem resolution, including coordination with Tableau and SAP Support.
- Assist users with publishing, scheduling, extract management, and best practices; offer training for analytics teams.
- Collaborate with Agile delivery teams, participating in backlog refinement, sprint planning, testing, and release activities.
- Recommend improvements for platform scalability, reliability, automation, and overall operational excellence.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Active U.S. DoD Secret Clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
- 5+ years of experience in application or analytics platform administration, business intelligence, or related technical support roles.
- Ability to meet DoD 8140 requirements.
- Hands-on experience administering Tableau Server and supporting Tableau Desktop users in an enterprise environment.
- Strong understanding of:
• Tableau Server configuration and maintenance
• User/security administration
• Extract scheduling, monitoring, and troubleshooting
• Performance tuning and issue resolution - Working knowledge of SAP systems (SAP S/4HANA, SAP BW/4HANA, SAP BTP) and SAP‑integrated analytics.
- Experience supporting integrations with SAP data sources, ETL processes, or enterprise data pipelines.
- Familiarity with authentication technologies such as Okta, Active Directory, SSO/LDAP, or enterprise identity management.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Understanding of federal IT security standards and ability to operate in classified or controlled environments.
Desired:
- Experience in DoD, federal, or highly regulated environments.
- Tableau certifications (e.g., Tableau Certified Data Analyst, Tableau Server Certified Associate).
- Familiarity with Tableau SAP connector configurations, including SAP BW ODBO 64‑bit driver setup.
- Experience integrating Tableau Server with Okta SSO in enterprise or federal environments.
- Background supporting analytics in financial, logistics, supply chain, transportation, or SAP ERP domains.
- Experience with cloud or hybrid Tableau environments, including Tableau Cloud.
- Knowledge of tools such as ServiceNow, Splunk, or similar monitoring and ticketing systems.
- Exposure to Agile frameworks such as SAFe.
- Experience with Tableau Prep Builder for SAP‑integrated data pipelines.
- Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL for troubleshooting and performance optimization.
