You will lead early talent and university recruiting, coordinate UMB’s Internship Program, manage recruitment for the Commercial Banker Development Program, and build relationships with schools, community organizations, workforce development programs, students, hiring managers, and business leaders.

This is a highly collaborative role for someone who enjoys connecting people to possibility—and knows how to turn those connections into strong, future-focused talent pipelines.

This role is based at UMB's headquarters in Kansas City, MO, with a hybrid schedule.

What you’ll do

Build early talent pipelines

  • Develop and execute recruiting strategies for internships, development programs, and other early talent opportunities.
  • Build relationships with colleges, universities, workforce development programs, community organizations, and early talent partners.
  • Identify opportunities to connect a diverse array of students and emerging professionals with education, career exploration, and opportunities at UMB.
  • Represent UMB at career fairs, campus events, networking programs, and other hiring events.

Partner with the business

  • Consult with hiring managers and business leaders to understand workforce needs and anticipate upcoming talent requirements.
  • Conduct in-depth phone interviews and assess candidates for alignment with UMB’s business needs, culture, and opportunities.
  • Present qualified candidates to hiring teams and partner with Talent Acquisition colleagues to move candidates through the recruitment process.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders across the organization.

Source and engage talent

  • Create targeted sourcing strategies to identify both active and passive candidates.
  • Use LinkedIn, Indeed, social media, applicant tracking systems, and other recruiting tools to build talent pipelines and engage prospective candidates.
  • Develop authentic, compelling outreach that helps candidates understand the opportunities available at UMB.
  • Support a thoughtful, inclusive candidate experience from first conversation through selection.

Lead program coordination

  • Coordinate and manage UMB’s Internship Program and other early talent programs across the business.
  • Organize timelines, communications, events, stakeholder responsibilities, and candidate touchpoints.
  • Lead cross-functional projects and collaborations with external partners to strengthen early talent programs over time.
  • Track activity, outcomes, and opportunities to improve recruiting effectiveness.

We’re excited to talk with you if:

  • You have five or more years of experience consulting with hiring managers, leading full-cycle recruitment, early talent programs, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience.
  • You have experience coordinating or attending career fairs, campus events, networking events, or other hiring programs.
  • You are a proactive and confident communicator who can independently manage recruiting priorities across multiple departments.
  • You are highly organized and comfortable leading cross-functional projects with internal and external partners.
  • You build trust easily and enjoy developing meaningful relationships with hiring managers, students, community partners, and colleagues.
  • You are comfortable using LinkedIn, Indeed, social media, applicant tracking systems, and other sourcing platforms to identify, attract, and engage talent.
  • You are energized by early talent recruiting and motivated by the opportunity to help people take the next step in their careers.
  • You have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Your work will influence how students and emerging professionals experience UMB—and how our business develops the talent it needs for the future.

If you are a relationship-driven recruiter, program coordinator, and talent strategist who enjoys creating opportunity, we would love to hear from you.
