Talent Sourcer (Contract) — Makai Labs Location: Remote — Offshore / Non-US candidates only Engagement Type: Independent Contractor (1099) — Sourcing-only, no recruiting/screening duties Reports to: Director of Talent Acquisition About Makai Labs Makai Labs is an AI and data solutions company building the infrastructure, products, and teams that power enterprise automation and human-machine teaming. We partner with organizations to design, build, and scale AI-first products. Our team spans engineering, AI research, product, and design, and we run multiple concurrent technical and product hiring searches at any given time. About the Role We're hiring a Talent Sourcer on a contract basis to build and deliver qualified candidate pipelines across technical and product roles — AI/ML engineers, DevOps/platform engineers, QA engineers, product owners, and software engineers. This is a pure sourcing role. You will not conduct candidate screening calls, interviews, offer negotiation, or any recruiting/closing activity — your scope is finding, engaging, and pipelining candidates, then handing them off recruiter-ready. You'll work independently with clear weekly deliverables and minimal day-to-day oversight. This is a fully remote, offshore-only position engaged as a 1099 independent contractor — not an employee role, and not open to candidates based in the United States. What You'll Do Build and execute sourcing strategies for open roles across engineering, AI research, QA, DevOps, and product Run searches and build passive candidate pipelines using Juicebox as a primary sourcing tool Build and refine boolean and X-Ray search strings across LinkedIn, GitHub, and other sourcing platforms Send cold outreach and manage response sequences to move candidates into the pipeline Own candidate data hygiene inside Ashby — accurate tagging, stage movement, and sourcing attribution Deliver a defined weekly volume of qualified, pipeline-ready candidates per open role (target volume to be set per engagement) Flag credential inconsistencies or authenticity concerns for recruiter follow-up (flagging only — not vetting or screening calls) Maintain basic sourcing metrics (candidates sourced, response rates) for weekly reporting Out of scope for this role: candidate screening calls, interviews, reference checks, offer discussions, or any candidate-facing evaluation. This is 100% top-of-funnel sourcing. What We're Looking For 3+ years of hands-on, day-to-day experience working directly in Ashby — non-negotiable. You should be fluent in Ashby's search/filter logic, pipeline and stage management, tagging, and candidate data hygiene. We're looking for someone who needs zero ramp-up time in Ashby. Direct working experience sourcing in Juicebox — comfortable building and refining Juicebox searches independently, not just aware of the tool. 3+ years of sourcing experience, ideally supporting technical and/or product roles Strong boolean/X-Ray search construction skills across LinkedIn, GitHub, and similar platforms Comfort sourcing across multiple technical disciplines you may not have deep domain expertise in (AI/ML, DevOps, QA, engineering) — you can read a JD and translate it into precise search logic Strong written English for outreach that reads as personalized, not templated Proven ability to work independently and hit weekly sourcing targets with minimal oversight Based outside the United States, with reasonable overlap with US business hours Engagement Details Type: 1099 independent contractor — this is not an employee position; no benefits, PTO, or employment relationship implied Location: Strictly offshore — candidates must be based outside the United States
