Role Description The Tax Consultant will provide expert tax advisory and compliance services to a diverse portfolio of individual and business clients. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing financial information, preparing and lodging tax returns, advising on tax-efficient structures, and supporting clients with ATO queries and dispute resolution. The role involves conducting tax research, interpreting relevant legislation, and translating complex tax issues into clear, actionable guidance. The Tax Consultant will collaborate with internal team members on accounting, business structuring, and international tax matters, while maintaining accurate documentation and meeting deadlines. This is a full-time remote role, requiring proactive communication and a high level of professional integrity.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in tax planning and tax strategy, with the ability to design effective solutions for individuals and businesses.
- Demonstrated experience in tax compliance and tax preparation, including preparing and lodging returns and managing ongoing obligations.
- Practical experience with tax audits and ATO dispute management, including evidence gathering, documentation, and negotiation support.
- Solid understanding of Australian tax law and regulations, with the ability to research and interpret complex legislation.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, law, or a related discipline; professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CA, registered tax agent) are highly regarded.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with accounting and tax software.
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax issues to non-specialists.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Experience with international tax, SMSFs, or business advisory services is beneficial.
