Show job description

At Spark, we're helping New Zealand win big in a digital world. As one of New Zealand's largest and most recognised organisations, we're looking for a talented tax professional to join our Wellington-based Tax team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 3-5 years' tax experience looking to step beyond the traditional advisory or compliance pathway and gain exposure to the full breadth of corporate tax in a large, complex business.

Why this role?

If you've built a strong tax foundation in a Big 4/Professional Services firm and are looking for broader commercial exposure, this role offers something different.

You'll work across:

  • Supporting domestic and international tax obligations across the Spark Group.
  • Advising on commercial initiatives, transactions and technical tax matters.
  • Supporting tax accounting, financial reporting and governance activities.
  • Contributing to tax risk management and engagement with tax authorities.
  • Improving tax processes, controls, data and automation.

Rather than specialising narrowly, you'll gain exposure across the full tax lifecycle while helping support strategic decisions across the Spark Group.

What we're looking for

We're keen to hear from people who have:

  • Around 3-5 years' corporate tax experience
  • A background in Big 4, mid-tier or large corporate tax environments
  • Strong New Zealand tax knowledge
  • CA qualification (or working towards it)
  • A practical, commercially minded approach to problem solving
  • The ability to translate technical tax concepts into real business outcomes

Whether you're recently qualified or a few years post-qualification, we'd love to talk.

Why Spark?

At Spark you'll join a supportive and inclusive team where you'll have the opportunity to keep learning, broaden your experience and make a genuine impact.

Our benefits include:

  • Medical, life, income and trauma insurance
  • Hybrid working (typically 4 days in office, 1 flexible)
  • $150 monthly Spark credit
  • Employee share scheme
  • Additional leave options and generous parental leave support
  • Ongoing learning and career development opportunities

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences and identities. If you're looking for a role where you can grow your career, bring your whole self to work and build skills beyond traditional tax advisory, we'd love to hear from you.
