AJU offers a variety of degree-granting programming, such as fully online programs in early childhood education at the BA, MA, EdD, and certificate levels, as well as an EdD in Jewish Education and Communal Leadership. The University also offers an in-person MA in Rabbinic Studies and ordains Conservative rabbis. In addition, AJU delivers for-credit online supplemental undergraduate programming to high school students and teens nationwide. In 2024–25, the University enrolled 150 full-time equivalent (FTE) students across all programs. Position Summary The position of Teaching Assistant for the Jewish Learning Experience (JLE) supports the faculty, facilitators, and administrators of the JLE by grading assignments, discussion boards, and assessments. The Teaching Assistant also provides feedback to program Administrators and Faculty regarding student work, curriculum, and course elements. This position is a 1 Academic Year Contract that may be renewed on an annual basis. The JLE Academic Year is from August through June. Essential Duties Summary: Evaluate and grade JLE assignments, which may include Knowledge Checks, Midterms, Final Exams and Extra Credit, within designated timeframes or deadlines. Provide clear and constructive feedback to students based on provided rubrics and grading guidelines. Maintain consistency and fairness in the grading process. Ensure student confidentiality and adhere to academic integrity and AI-related policies. Participate in monthly meetings with JLE Administrators and Faculty regarding grading issues, students-at-risk, or unclear submissions. Prepare a year-end report which includes overarching themes seen in student work, questions and/or concerns that were regularly submitted, suggestions for curriculum modification and other relevant data and/or feedback. Required Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in Judaic studies or other related area from an accredited institution. Prior experience grading or tutoring, with prior teaching experience highly preferred. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Demonstrated strong written and communication skills. Experience with online learning platforms, experience with Canvas by Instructure is preferred.
