Our mission: to provide a state-of-the-art digital identity solution for all people, enabling them to interact securely in the digital space. Now, only nine years after being founded, close to 8 million citizens use the itsme® app to identify themselves and sign documents online. Starting in Belgium, we successfully launched the itsme app in 32 European countries, with the ambition of becoming an internationally leading player . This is a hands-on leadership role. You will still write code, review architecture, and care deeply about what the applications, but you will equally invest in your team’s ways of working, autonomy, and long-term effectiveness. You will work closely with product, design, and backend teams, and play an active role in itsme’s broader transformation and scaling journey. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in evolving environments, is energised by technical complexity, and understands that great mobile products are built by empowered, well-led teams. What your job looks like Split your time between hands-on development and team leadership , balancing delivery and people responsibilities. Design, build, and maintain features for the itsme® iOS application , contributing directly to a secure, high-impact digital identity product. Collaborate with product owners, designers, and backend developers to translate business requirements into scalable mobile solutions . Take ownership of code quality, performance, and security , ensuring best practices are applied across the mobile codebase. Lead and coach a team of iOS and Android developers , supporting their growth, engagement, and day-to-day effectiveness. Define and evolve team topology, ways of working, and agile practices to maximize delivery efficiency and team autonomy. Actively remove impediments and manage cross-team dependencies , ensuring smooth and predictable delivery. Contribute to hiring and onboarding , helping scale a strong and balanced mobile team. Partner with leadership and stakeholders to support itsme’s transformation and scaling journey , adapting processes and structures as needed. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ownership, and collaboration within the mobile team. At least 5 years of experience developing native iOS applications At least 2 years of experience as team lead / manager Experience with CI/CD processes (e.g., GitHub workflows, automated builds, pipelines) Experience with Mobile release management Experience in highly regulated or security-sensitive environments is a plus, given the nature of the project Strong motivation to work in evolving environments where systems are actively being phased out or re-architected Fully proficient in English and native in French or Dutch What we offer Being welcomed by an informal, enthusiastic, and ambitious team that is revolutionising how we safely manage our digital identity, in Belgium & beyond.
