The Team & Role The Maternity team is currently forming to build a product in a sector new to our organisation. The team will be led by a triad comprised of a tech lead, product manager and design lead supported by web, mobile and quality engineers. The first six months of the role will involve creating an increasingly detailed app, iterating through feedback with both internal and external stakeholders. The next six months will be working to bring this vision to market. Later work will involve working as a triad to identify and implement future phases of this product. The tech lead role is approximately a 70/30 split between hands-on development and leadership responsibilities. The team works in 2-week Agile Scrum sprints. Key Responsibilities · Owning the technical direction and architecture of the Maternity project. · Leading by example through hands-on best practice engineering skills. · Ensuring consistent engineering standards through code reviews, testing and automation. · Working closely with product management to translate requirements into robust technical solutions. · Acting as the technical escalation point for the team. · Building a team of engineers and ensuring their personal development. Requirements · Experience: leadership or senior engineering skills in a product engineering organisation. · Technical/Functional Alignment: strong skills in one or more object-oriented programming languages – we use Ruby, Typescript, Go, Python and PHP across our estate. · Sector Interest: A genuine interest in the software engineering landscape and how technology can be a force for good. · Mindset: A pragmatic, collaborative, and warm approach to problem-solving.
