📍 Romania, remote · 📄 PFA / SRL · 🕑 Full-time (40h/week), afternoon–evening overlap with US business hours (~14:00–22:00 EET)
Timesact is a "Built for Shopify"-certified app that helps 17,000+ Shopify merchants run preorders, back-in-stock alerts, and coming-soon pages without touching code. We're hiring one curious, reliable person in Romania to join our support team.
This is a support role, not a developer role. You'll spend your days writing to merchants, not writing code.
But unlike most support jobs, you can't do this one without being able to look under the hood of a website. When a merchant writes "the preorder button doesn't show up on my product page" — the answer is sitting in their theme, and we need you to be able to open it and look.
So basic front-end is a hard requirement. Not a framework. Not a portfolio. The basics:
- You can read HTML and CSS and follow what a page is doing
- You can open browser DevTools, inspect an element, and spot a JavaScript error
- You've edited a template, a snippet, or a theme file at some point — Shopify, WordPress, a page builder, a course project, your own site. All of it counts.
If you can do that and you genuinely like helping people, keep reading.
If what you actually want is to become a front-end developer, this isn't your role — you'd be bored by month three and we'd both lose. We're looking for someone whose craft is support, who happens to be technical enough to investigate properly.
Day to day, you will:
- Answer merchant questions over Crisp (live chat) and email
- Join video calls with merchants — some scheduled, some ad-hoc when a chat won't cut it
- Handle the occasional merchant phone call, inbound or outbound
- Reproduce reported issues in test Shopify stores and document what you find
- Inspect merchant themes to work out why something renders the way it does
- Explain the fix clearly to someone non-technical
- Flag recurring patterns to our product team
What we require — all of these:
- Basic front-end: read HTML/CSS, use DevTools, recognise a JavaScript error when you see one
- Strong written English (B2+) — the job is roughly 80% writing
- Based in Romania
- Comfortable on customer-facing video calls, plus the occasional phone call
- Calm and patient in writing, especially when the person on the other end isn't
- Detail-oriented, and able to make a call when the process doesn't cover the case
Nice to have — genuinely optional:
- Any Shopify exposure at all (your own store, a client's, a friend's)
- Prior support or helpdesk experience (Crisp, Zendesk, Freshdesk, Intercom)
- Liquid, or any templating language
- A third language on top of Romanian and English (French, German, Spanish)
- Daily, fluent use of AI tools in your actual work
As you grow into the role, you will:
- Learn Shopify properly — themes, app embed blocks, selling plans, the product/variant/inventory model
- Take on deeper investigations alongside our CTO
- Turn recurring merchant questions into help docs and process improvements
Tools you'll use: Crisp, Shopify Partner dashboard, Chrome DevTools, Notion + Google Drive, GitHub (read-only, for technical context).
What success looks like:
By month 3, you're resolving the majority of incoming chats independently and have shadowed our CTO on several deeper technical investigations. By month 6, you're handling theme and configuration issues end-to-end, escalating only what genuinely needs a developer, and improving the docs as you go.
The practical details:
- Contract: PFA or SRL — your choice. Employment on the table after probation.
- Team: small, remote, direct. You'll report to Andrei, our founder.
- Pay: we don't post a range — tell us your expectation and we'll be straight with you about whether it works. Reviewed at 6 months against performance.
