Technical Architect (Advanced) / freelance opportunity

🚀 We're looking for a senior Technical Architect with deep expertise in XML technologies, structured data standards, and solution architecture

This is an opportunity to work on large-scale data and format standardisation initiatives supporting legal and publication standards used across European institutions.

Location: Luxembourg (nearsite with remote work available)

Occasional presence may be required with a notice period of 2 hours

Start Date: December 2026

Duration: up to 1,100 working days (long-term assignment)

Contract Type: freelance

What You'll Be Doing

As a Technical Architect, you will design and evolve structured-data solutions, document-processing frameworks, and interoperability architectures supporting legal and publication standards.

Key responsibilities include:

✅ analysing business, functional, and technical requirements

✅ designing technical architectures, integration patterns, data flows, and metadata models

✅ building and maintaining structured-content processing pipelines

✅ designing and implementing XML schemas, mappings, and validation frameworks

✅ developing transformations using XSLT, XPath, Schematron, and related technologies

✅ supporting interoperability between publication and legal standards

✅ defining testing approaches, validation rules, and quality controls

✅ producing technical documentation, specifications, and implementation artefacts

✅ participating in technical reviews and stakeholder discussions with European institutions

What We're Looking For (essential Experience)

✔ 10+ years of professional IT experience

✔ at least 7 years of practical experience with XML technologies and XML Schema (XSD)

✔ at least 7 years of experience designing, analysing, or evolving complex multi-component technical solutions

✔ strong experience in data modelling, integration architecture, and structured-data processing

✔ minimum 3 years working with publication, legal, semantic, or metadata standards such as:

• Akoma Ntoso (AKN4EU)
• FORMEX
• ELI
• HTML5
• IMMC
• RDF / RDFa
• JSON-LD
• Controlled vocabularies

✔ practical experience implementing XML transformations using XSLT

✔ practical experience implementing rule-based validation using Schematron or equivalent technologies
