Huenx AS · Vietnam (remote, Norwegian-hours overlap) · Full-time or hourly engagement
About Huenx AS
Huenx AS is an AI-first consultancy and product company based in Norway. We deliver software and AI consulting services to clients across Norway and Europe, and we build our own AI-driven products. Our model brings together Norwegian business insight and senior Vietnamese engineering talent — small, highly skilled teams that work effectively with AI to deliver faster than larger organizations.
Since January our Norwegian founders have carried project and delivery management for every engagement themselves. We have grown past the point where that works. This role exists to take real ownership of delivery — not to administer it.
The role
You are the person who makes sure that what a European client needs is what our Vietnamese team actually builds. You sit between the two, and you are accountable for the outcome on both sides.
That means you run client conversations on your own — scoping, status, difficult news, change requests — and you run the engineering team day to day: planning, priorities, quality, and the people in it. You are technical enough to challenge a design decision, read a pull request, and estimate a piece of work without asking someone else. You are not writing production code full-time, but you have earned the right to have an opinion about it.
We are a young company in a market that rewards speed. There is no PMO, no template library, and no delivery playbook waiting for you. You will build ours.
What you will own
Client and delivery
- Own delivery end-to-end for two to four concurrent client engagements: scope, plan, budget, timeline, quality, and the client relationship.
- Run client meetings independently — sprint reviews, steering updates, scoping workshops — in English, with European stakeholders, without a Norwegian colleague in the room.
- Turn vague requirements into buildable work. Our clients often arrive with a business problem rather than a specification. You ask the right questions, write it down, get it agreed, and keep it current.
- Surface risk early. Bad news delivered on time is a normal part of consulting. Bad news delivered late is the only real failure in this role.
- Manage scope and change commercially. Recognise when a request is a change, price the effort, and have that conversation with the client early and without drama.
- Report in writing to a standard Nordic clients trust — concise, honest status, clear decisions, clear asks, no surprises.
Team and engineering
- Lead the Vietnamese delivery team day to day: sprint planning, prioritisation, unblocking, and protecting focus.
- Line-manage and grow engineers — regular one-to-ones, feedback, performance conversations, onboarding, career development. Retention in this market is won or lost by the manager.
- Own engineering discipline: definition of done, code review standards, test strategy, CI/CD, release and environment management, Jira / Azure DevOps hygiene.
- Hold the quality bar on AI-assisted work. Our teams ship with AI coding tools by default. That changes how fast work moves, how it should be estimated, and where review effort has to go. You set those gates.
- Bridge two working cultures deliberately. Norwegian delivery culture is flat, direct, and expects disagreement out loud; a Vietnamese team will often be more deferential and slower to escalate. Closing that gap — in both directions — is a core part of the job, not a soft skill.
Beyond project delivery
- Support pre-sales and proposals: effort estimates, delivery approach, technical sections of proposals and statements of work.
- Build our delivery playbook: the estimation model, reporting cadence, quality gates, and onboarding material that the next ten projects will run on.
- Help us hire. You will screen and interview the engineers you go on to work with.
- Keep us safe on the basics: NDAs, GDPR and data handling, client IP and AI tooling policy, access control. Norwegian clients ask about these, and you should have good answers.
Your skills and experience
Must have
- 8+ years in software, including several years hands-on as a developer, and 3+ years leading delivery as a technical project manager, delivery manager, or engineering manager.
- A technical foundation you actually earned. Ideally a solution architect, tech lead, or senior engineer background. You can read a system design, reason about integrations, data models, and cloud architecture, and tell a good estimate from a hopeful one.
- Full fluency in both Vietnamese and English. You lead the team in Vietnamese and the client in English, switching between them several times a day without losing nuance in either direction. This is the core of the role.
- Exceptional English — spoken and written. This is the single hardest requirement and we will test it. You need to run a live meeting with a Norwegian client, handle pushback in real time, and write a status report or a scope-change email that reads as if a native speaker wrote it.
- Proven experience delivering for Western clients — Europe, the Nordics, the UK, or the US — in an outsourcing, consulting, or distributed-product setting. You know how offshore delivery earns trust, and how it loses it.
- Requirements and analysis ability. You can do the business-analyst work yourself when there is no BA: interview stakeholders, write user stories and acceptance criteria, model a process, resolve contradictions.
- Real people skills, in both directions. Vietnamese engineers should want to work for you, and European clients should want you in the room. Direct, calm, and credible under pressure — not a message relay.
- Commercial literacy: time-and-materials versus fixed-price, estimation and re-baselining, burn and forecast, utilisation, why margin matters and how delivery decisions move it.
- Comfort with ambiguity and no scaffolding. You have worked somewhere small, or built the process yourself. If you have only ever delivered inside a large, well-defined process, this will be a hard change.
- AI-first mindset. You use AI tools in your own work — writing, analysis, planning, reading code — and you have views on where they help a delivery team and where they create risk.
- Able to work 12:00–21:00 Vietnam time (roughly 07:00–16:00 in Norway), giving full overlap with the Norwegian working day.
Strong advantages
- Previous experience as a **solution architect or enterprise architect**.
- Experience with **Norwegian or Nordic clients** specifically, or having lived and worked in Europe.
- Working knowledge of the **Microsoft stack** we deliver on: .NET / C#, React, Azure, PostgreSQL / SQL Server.
- Reading knowledge of Norwegian — much client material is written in Norwegian.
- Experience in a **regulated domain** (banking, insurance, public sector, health) where documentation and traceability matter.
- Certifications such as **PMP, PRINCE2, PSM, or SAFe** — useful, but they will not substitute for judgment.
This is probably not for you if
- Your delivery experience is mainly coordinating and reporting inside a large factory-model outsourcing team, with a BA layer below you and a delivery director above you.
- You need a defined process to work inside, rather than to define.
- You would rather write code than lead people and clients.
- You are not confident chairing a tense meeting in English.
Why you will love working here
- A role with genuine authority. You own delivery, and the founders will hand it over rather than hover over it.
- Direct access to European clients — you build the relationship, not a summary of it.
- AI-first every day, on client work and on our own products, with the tooling budget to match.
- Remote and flexible, within the Norwegian-hours overlap.
- Opportunity to travel to Norway for onsite collaboration with clients and the team, or potentially to relocate, depending on performance and business needs.
- Salary range: 2,500–4,000 USD per month, gross (full-time equivalent), depending on experience and engagement type.
- For full-time roles: 13th-month salary, social insurance, company trips, learning and training budget, and other benefits according to company policies.
- You are early. The delivery function at Huenx will be what you make it, and there is room to grow into a Head of Delivery role as we scale.
