Technical Lead

We are looking for an experienced Technical Lead who can combine solution architecture skills with hands-on engineering. In this role, you will help integrate a global SaaS platform into the company’s research IT environment, ensuring secure, reliable and efficient data flows between laboratory systems and downstream applications.

About the project

LARA (Laboratory Animal Research Application) is a global solution supporting the management of laboratory animals used in research. The platform consists of several key components:

• Climb – a third-party SaaS solution provided by Instem for collecting and managing data.
• Cloud Services – an integration layer connecting Climb with internal data providers and consumers.
• Study Animal Data Platform (SADP) – a data platform that stores information from LARA Climb and makes it available to downstream systems.

The solution supports research teams across Denmark, China and the USA and operates 24/7.

Experience with Climb is not required. What matters most is your ability to design and implement integrations between external SaaS platforms and internal enterprise systems.

Your responsibilities

• Develop a strong technical understanding of the SaaS platform and its integration points within the existing IT landscape.
• Lead the design of secure, compliant and reliable integrations between Climb, Cloud Services, SADP and other internal systems.
• Define and coordinate data flows, including those related to laboratory processes and equipment.
• Analyse and coordinate the migration of data from the existing legacy solution to the new platform.
• Provide technical leadership to the development team and work closely with the Product Owner and Scrum Master.
• Stay hands-on with Python development and database-related work, particularly PostgreSQL and PL/SQL.
• Design and validate integrations based on messaging queues and appropriate data architecture patterns.
• Take part in PoCs, technical troubleshooting, code reviews and continuous improvement activities.
• Work with GitHub and Agile practices to support effective software delivery.

What we are looking for

• Strong experience in solution architecture, requirements analysis and technical solution design.
• Proven experience integrating SaaS platforms with enterprise systems and services.
• Strong knowledge of AWS and experience designing cloud-based solutions.
• Hands-on experience with Python.
• Strong database and data engineering background, especially with PostgreSQL and PL/SQL.
• Experience with messaging queues, data flows and system-to-system integrations.
• Understanding of secure and compliant architecture, ideally within a regulated environment.
• Experience with GitHub and Agile ways of working.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn complex requirements into clear and practical technical solutions.
