Technical Lead with .NET and Azure

Joining Endava, you'll work exclusively with WTW to help embed AI-enabled engineering practices, modern ways of working and deep insurance technology expertise, contributing to the next generation of products and services for insurers worldwide. Working as part of a dedicated team established through a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, you'll collaborate closely with WTW while building your career as an Endava employee, supporting the long-term success of this strategic partnership. About the Role In this role, you will play a key role in the modernisation and evolution of a strategic, business-critical cloud platform. This platform executes large-scale insurance modelling workloads across the organisation, dynamically provisions Azure compute resources, supports computationally intensive jobs submitted by multiple business applications and provides a shared cloud platform for analytical services. The role combines hands-on technical leadership with coaching, mentoring and strategic influence. You will influence architecture, engineering practices, cloud adoption and developer experience while contributing to the replacement of legacy technologies, the rebuilding of UI portals, the modernisation of backend services, the adoption of Infrastructure as Code, the migration of workloads to Azure Container Apps and improvements to deployment automation and operational resilience. You will work closely with architects, product teams, platform engineers and business stakeholders to deliver scalable cloud-native services, establish engineering excellence and transform the platform into a modern Azure-native capability while gaining deep knowledge of cloud platform engineering and distributed systems. You will be expected to lead by example, balancing deep technical expertise with a passion for developing people, improving engineering culture and driving innovation. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Architecture Lead modern cloud-native platform design, development, and modernization. Set engineering standards, architecture patterns, and development frameworks. Provide technical leadership across teams, roadmaps, and initiatives. Assess emerging technologies and guide adoption where they add value. Improve scalability, maintainability, performance, resilience, and security. Guide legacy transformation, cloud migration, Domain-Driven Design, event-driven architecture, and modern engineering practices. Platform Modernization You will help lead initiatives including: Modernize legacy applications, services, pipelines, and release processes. Migrate workloads to cloud-native Azure services. Expand Infrastructure as Code adoption. Improve reliability, observability, operational excellence, and maintainability. Evolve the platform towards distributed, event-driven solutions while reducing technical debt. Software Engineering Design and develop high-quality, maintainable software. Write clean, testable, well-documented code. Review code and provide constructive technical feedback. Contribute to architecture reviews and design discussions. Improve performance, reliability, security, and delivery practices. Ensure solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements. Cloud & Platform Engineering Build, operate, and design services on Microsoft Azure. Work with platform and DevOps teams to improve infrastructure, deployment, monitoring, and operations. Adopt Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform or OpenTofu. Support operational readiness, production stability, incident response, and continuous improvement. Engineering Excellence & Quality Champion engineering best practices across the development lifecycle. Drive automated testing across unit, integration, end-to-end, contract, and performance testing. Promote secure-by-design and quality-first engineering. Improve observability through monitoring, logging, telemetry, and analytics. Support Site Reliability Engineering practices, including resilience testing, failure analysis, chaos engineering, and operational excellence. Leadership, Coaching & Culture Lead, mentor, and coach engineers at different experience levels. Support career growth and build team capability. Foster an inclusive, collaborative, high-performing engineering culture. Help teams adopt modern practices and ways of working. Contribute to technical communities, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning. Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders and engineering leadership.
