Technical Operations Specialist

An established Australian furniture business runs a custom web application that designs restaurant and hospitality floor plans, complete with a live product catalogue, 3D furniture models, and automatic pricing. The owner directs all development through AI coding agents - no code is written by hand - and needs one trusted, detail-obsessed person to run the day-to-day technical operations so he can focus on designing new concepts.

You will not write code. You will operate the machine that writes the code: briefing AI coding agents, verifying their work, testing on staging and production apps, managing catalogue data and 3D assets, and reporting everything in clear plain English. A written operating manual governs the whole workflow - your job is to follow it exactly and to speak up immediately when something doesn’t match what it should be.

What you will do:

• Turn the owner’s plain-English requests into precise written task briefs for AI coding agents (Codex, Claude), following the project’s standard templates.
• Verify every agent claim independently: check branches, commits, pull requests, and deployed versions in GitHub and DigitalOcean rather than trusting reports.
• Test every change on the staging app before it is approved, and verify it again on the production app after promotion.
• Run bulk product catalogue uploads: prepare clean CSVs, load pricing and product data, and reconcile the result against the source.
• Manage the 3D asset pipeline: generate and check GLB furniture models (exact millimetre dimensions matter), upload them, tag them correctly, and confirm they render properly in the app.
• Upload and organise materials, finishes, and textures through the admin pages.
• Keep the task board honest: one task in flight at a time, statuses that reflect reality, side-findings logged as future tasks.
• Report daily in short, plain-English summaries: what was done, what was verified, what is blocked, what needs the owner’s decision.

Non-negotiable requirements:

• QA / software testing background (2+ years). You reproduce bugs precisely, verify against exact versions, and never report “done” without seeing it work with your own eyes.
• Working Git and GitHub fluency. Branches, commits, pull requests, and diffs are everyday reading for you. You can find what a branch’s latest commit is and what a PR actually changed.
• Deployment literacy. You are comfortable in a hosting dashboard (DigitalOcean App Platform or similar): reading deploy logs, matching deployed commit hashes, and understanding staging versus production.
• Data discipline. Strong spreadsheet/CSV skills: clean data, consistent codes, and an eye that catches a $0.01 placeholder price hiding among 900 real ones.
• 3D asset experience. Hands-on work with SketchUp or Blender, and comfort with precise dimensional work (models calibrated to the millimetre). Architectural visualisation or CAD outsourcing background is ideal.
• Experience directing AI coding agents. You have used tools like Codex, Claude Code, or Cursor to get work done, and you know that agent claims must be verified, not believed.
• Process obedience with honest failure reporting. You follow the operating manual exactly - and when something fails or looks wrong, you stop and report it rather than quietly working around it. This is the single most important trait in the role.
• Excellent written English. Your entire job runs through clear written communication.

Nice to have (not required):

• Exposure to React/TypeScript codebases (reading, not writing).
• Experience with furniture, joinery, interior design, or hospitality fit-outs.
• Basic SQL for read-only data checks.

What this role is not:

This is not a developer role, and developers who prefer to fix things by hand rather than through the governed agent workflow will find it frustrating. The separation between the person who implements (the AI agent), the person who audits, and the person who approves is deliberate and permanent.

Terms:

• Full-time, fully remote. Significant overlap with Australian Eastern Time required.
• Competitive monthly salary based on experience, paid reliably.
• Direct reporting line to the business owner. Long-term role for the right person.
