Technical Project Manager – Sports Facilities and Infrastructure

£42,000 - £50,000 per annum dependant on relevant skills and experience.

Location – Home-based with regular travel across a designated region and to our office as required

We are the Football Foundation - the Premier League, the FA and government’s charity that delivers outstanding grassroots facilities, more and better places to play, transforming lives and communities where it is needed most.

As a Technical Project Manager, you'll lead the technical delivery of a portfolio of capital sports infrastructure projects, supporting applicants from the earliest design stages through procurement, construction and project completion.

Managing an annual portfolio of projects, you'll work closely with local authorities, football clubs, schools, consultants and contractors to ensure facilities are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest technical standards. You'll also provide expert technical advice to support funding decisions, undertake site inspections, assess construction risks, oversee grant payments and help protect the Foundation's investment.

This is an autonomous, varied role that combines technical expertise with relationship management and project leadership.

About The Football Foundation

Over the last 25 years, the Foundation has awarded more than 75,000 grants worth more than £1.3 billion to deliver the grassroots facilities that every community across the country needs and deserves.

As the biggest sport charity in the country, we’re a unique partnership between key football partners with a shared goal – ensuring every community in England has a great place to play.

We’re incredibly proud of the difference we’ve made to grassroots sport up and down the country since we started our journey, but we’re not slowing down any time soon.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for someone with experience of delivering construction projects from inception through to completion, who enjoys working collaboratively and solving complex technical challenges.

You'll have a degree, professional qualification or equivalent experience in a construction-related discipline, together with experience managing construction or capital projects from design through to completion. You'll possess excellent project management and communication skills, along with a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use. Experience of sports facilities, community infrastructure or sustainable construction would be beneficial, but is not essential.

For full details of the role and requirements, please download our recruitment pack below.

What can we offer you?

The salary band for this role is £42,000 - £50,000 per annum, dependant on relevant skills and experience.

You will be entitled to 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays. The Foundation also offer a generous pension scheme (8% employer contribution), free healthcare provision, a monthly gym subsidy, death in service benefit free match tickets and access to selected events at Wembley

We are committed to helping our team members maintain a healthy work-life balance, so offer flexible working around core hours to help achieve that.

Equality and Diversity Commitment

The Football Foundation is committed to and values the principles of diversity, equality, equity, and inclusion. We strive to provide an inclusive and supportive working environment where all our team feel respected and supported in fulfilling their potential. We encourage and welcome applications from all, regardless of background and are particularly interested to hear from individuals belonging to under-represented groups including diverse ethnic communities, individuals with a disability and those from the LGBTQI+ community.

Should you require any adjustments during the recruitment process, whether at the application or interview stage, please contact [email protected]. We will discuss your needs and give consideration to any reasonable adjustments requested.

The closing date for applications is: 9 August 2026 at midnight.

Virtual interviews will be 17/18 August, with in-person interviews held 26 August at Wembley Stadium.

We appreciate the time and effort that every applicant invests in applying to join us. Due to the high volume of applications we receive, we are only able to contact candidates who are shortlisted for interview. If you have not heard from us within two weeks of the closing date, please assume that your application has not been successful on this occasion.

Please note that you must be eligible to work in the UK to apply.
