Technical Sales and Application Engineer AMI Medical Market

About this Position

Provide expert application engineering support for AP customers, distributors and the commercial team across Central America and the Caribbean. The role replaces the former TCS scope with stronger ownership of customer applications, technical project execution and implementation. It covers both APC and APP applications, with specific emphasis in APP on flexible packaging lamination processes, laminating adhesives, coatings and related technologies. The Application Engineer identifies, develops, validates and helps close opportunities by recommending the right Henkel total solution, generating technical evidence and ensuring successful implementation at customer production lines.

What you´ll do

• Own application engineering activities for AP customers and distributors, covering both APC and APP technologies and applications.
• Work with Sales and Key Account Managers to identify, qualify, develop, validate, close and maintain customer application opportunities.
• Provide on-site and remote technical support during customer visits, production line assessments, trials, start-ups, product evaluations, troubleshooting and implementation of Henkel solutions.
• For APC, support the qualification and implementation of adhesive, coating and functional solutions according to customer substrates, production processes, equipment, performance requirements and end-use conditions.
• For APP, provide specialized technical support in flexible packaging lamination, including solvent-free, solvent-based and water-based laminating adhesive systems, primers, coatings, cold seal, heat seal and related technologies.
• For APP lamination projects, assess flexible packaging structures, films, foils, paper, inks, adhesive selection, mixing and dosing conditions, coating weight, web handling, nip settings, curing, residuals, bond performance and final package requirements.
• Plan and execute APP lamination trials, define acceptance criteria, monitor process parameters and evaluate laminate performance according to the intended end use, customer specifications and applicable food-contact or industry requirements.
• Troubleshoot APP lamination issues such as poor bond strength, delamination, tunneling, bubbles, poor wetting, appearance defects, adhesive transfer, mixing or ratio deviations, curing performance, residual odor and compatibility with films, inks or additives.
• Translate customer process and application requirements into technically and commercially viable recommendations for products, equipment, process conditions and implementation plans.
• Develop technical data required to validate Henkel solutions, including test plans, laboratory evaluations, line-trial protocols, performance results, technical reports and customer presentations.
• Support Sales and Key Account Managers in building value propositions, quantifying customer value and converting the technical pipeline into profitable new business.
• Manage assigned technical projects, samples, trials, claims and follow-up actions on time and with the required quality, maintaining clear ownership from opportunity identification through implementation.
• Provide product, process and application training to customers, distributors, sales teams and internal stakeholders through on-site sessions, classrooms and webinars.
• Serve as the regional Application Engineer and technical expert for assigned AP technologies, products and applications, sharing best practices and supporting innovation launches.
• Coordinate with Product Development, Marketing, Quality, Equipment, Regulatory and global or regional Application Engineering teams to solve customer needs and accelerate projects.
• Document technical activities, opportunities, test results, project progress and customer value in CAPRIS/ACE and the applicable Application Engineering systems.
• Lead the technical assessment of customer complaints by collecting process and application data, identifying root causes, defining corrective actions and coordinating follow-up through closure.
• Comply with Henkel SHEQ requirements and applicable customer, legal, regulatory and industry standards.

What makes you a good fit

• Education: University degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Packaging Engineering or a related technical field.
• Experience: Three or more years in application engineering, technical service, technical sales, manufacturing processes, converting, packaging or industrial customer support.
• APC knowledge: Experience with adhesives, coatings, substrates, application equipment, manufacturing processes, testing and technical problem-solving relevant to APC markets.
• APP knowledge: Knowledge of packaging adhesive and coating applications, with strong emphasis on flexible packaging lamination. Experience with laminating processes, flexible substrates, polyurethane adhesive systems, mixing and dosing equipment, coating application, curing and laminate testing is preferred.
• Process capability: Ability to assess customer production lines, define trial plans, analyze process parameters, identify root causes and convert results into clear technical recommendations.
• Regulatory awareness: Understanding of applicable packaging, food-contact, quality and safety requirements is preferred.

• Travel: Availability to travel frequently across Central America and the Caribbean.
