Do you combine strong knowledge of Linux, IP networking and wireless connectivity with the ability to understand customers and communicate complex solutions clearly? We are looking for a technically credible Sales Engineer who can turn operational and commercial needs into robust connectivity solutions for public transport.

You will work closely with customers, Sales, Product Management and Engineering throughout the pre-sales process, from technical discovery and solution design to bids, tenders and handover to delivery. If you thrive in an international environment and enjoy combining technology, consultancy and customer engagement, you'll fit right in.

Job type: Full-time

Workplace conditions: Hybrid

Location: Gothenburg, Sweden

About the Role

As a Technical Sales Engineer within Solution Consultancy & Engineering Connectivity, you will join a small, experienced global team supporting Icomera’s technical sales activities across multiple markets.

You will act as the technical bridge between customers, Sales, Product Management and Engineering. A key part of the role is understanding customer environments and requirements, then developing technically feasible, scalable and commercially competitive connectivity solutions.

This is a consultative pre-sales position with substantial technical content. You will work with IP-based network architectures, Linux-based systems and wireless technologies such as cellular, Wi-Fi and radio frequency solutions. You will also communicate the value, capabilities and limitations of proposed solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You will contribute throughout the pre-sales journey, including technical discovery, solution design, system architecture, customer workshops, bids and tenders, and handover from sales to delivery.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead technical discovery with customers, identifying operational, technical and commercial requirements.
  • Design high-level connectivity and network solutions involving Linux-based platforms, IP networking, cellular connectivity, Wi-Fi and related radio technologies.
  • Translate customer requirements into clear solution architectures, technical descriptions, bills of materials and proposal content.
  • Support Sales during customer meetings, presentations, workshops, bids and tender processes, taking ownership of the technical dialogue.
  • Work with Product Management and Engineering to validate solution feasibility, manage technical risks and ensure a structured handover to delivery teams.

We believe you bring:

  • 5+ years of experience from a customer-facing technical role, such as Sales Engineer, Pre-Sales Engineer, Solution Engineer, Technical Consultant or similar.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, IP networking, telecommunications or connectivity solutions. Strong skill and understanding of Radio frequency, specifically within areas of cellular and Wi-Fi technologies, including antenna solutions.
  • Experience with Linux, Cisco technologies or equivalent industrial networking solutions
  • Experience translating customer requirements into technical solutions and documentation.
  • The ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
  • Fluent English, spoken and written.

The following skills we see as meritorious:

  • Experience from the transportation or railway industry.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity, compliance or technical governance.
  • Experience working in international customer environments.

Who You Are

You are a technically curious and commercially aware professional who enjoys understanding how systems work and why customers need them. You are confident discussing network architecture and troubleshooting technical challenges, but you can also step back and explain the business value of a solution.

You approach customer conversations consultatively, asking structured questions before proposing a solution. You are comfortable challenging unclear or technically unrealistic requirements in a constructive way and working across Sales, Product Management and Engineering to find the best way forward.

You do not need to know every Icomera product from day one, but you should bring sufficient knowledge of Linux, IP networking and wireless connectivity to engage credibly in detailed technical discussions.
