About The Role

We're looking for a Service Specialist to help support and develop Trust & Security services used by research and education organisations across Europe.

This is a unique opportunity to combine technology, stakeholder engagement and service delivery within an international community environment. You'll work closely with National Research and Education Networks (NRENs), service providers, technical experts and community groups, helping to ensure trusted digital services continue to meet the needs of the research and education sector.

The role sits at the intersection of technology, community collaboration and service management. You'll support services such as the Trusted Certificate Service (TCS), work with governance groups and community stakeholders, and help coordinate activities that enable secure collaboration across Europe.

While you'll work in a technical environment, we're not looking for a software developer or deep technical specialist. We're looking for someone who is comfortable discussing technical concepts, enjoys working with people, and is excited to learn and develop expertise in the Trust, Identity and Security space.

What You’ll Do

Service Management & Coordination

  • You'll support the delivery and ongoing development of services within the Trust & Security portfolio, including certificate-related services used by organisations across the research and education community.
  • You'll coordinate service activities, governance processes and operational requirements to help ensure services continue delivering value to members and stakeholders.
  • You'll work closely with colleagues across Legal, Finance and Procurement to support contracts, invoicing and service administration activities.

Community Engagement & Stakeholder Relationships

  • You'll build and maintain strong relationships with NRENs, service providers, community leaders and technical experts across Europe.
  • You'll organise meetings, governance calls, working groups and training activities that help communities collaborate and share knowledge.
  • You'll facilitate discussions, bring people together around shared objectives and help navigate differing viewpoints in a constructive and diplomatic way.

Trust, Security & Governance

  • You'll support governance and policy activities across the Trust & Security portfolio.
  • You'll help stakeholders understand service requirements, standards and community processes whilst maintaining positive and productive relationships.
  • You'll keep up to date with developments in areas such as digital trust, online security, certificate services and identity management, helping translate emerging developments into practical opportunities for the community.

Community Representation & Collaboration

  • You'll represent GÉANT at community meetings, working groups, conferences and other events.
  • You'll help strengthen collaboration between members, partners, service providers and community experts to support the future development of services and initiatives.

About you

We're open to candidates from a variety of backgrounds and don't expect you to have done this exact role before.

You might currently work as a Systems Administrator, Infrastructure Administrator, Service Delivery Analyst, Technical Coordinator, Service Specialist or in a similar technology-focused role and be looking for an opportunity to broaden your experience through stakeholder engagement, community collaboration and service development.

Please consider the responsibilities of the role carefully and how your experience aligns with the following areas:

  • Ability to communicate confidently with technical stakeholders and subject matter experts
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Experience coordinating services, projects, operational activities or stakeholder initiatives
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people
  • A diplomatic and collaborative approach, particularly when managing differing opinions or requirements
  • Interest in technology, security, networking, digital trust or identity-related topics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to work effectively within international, multicultural and geographically distributed environments
  • Curiosity, adaptability and a willingness to learn new concepts and technologies

Experience That Could Be Beneficial

  • Systems Administration, Infrastructure Administration or Network Administration experience
  • Experience in service delivery, technical operations or service coordination
  • Exposure to Trust & Identity, authentication, IAM or certificate-related technologies
  • Experience working with customers, suppliers, partners or member communities
  • Experience supporting governance groups, steering groups or community-led initiatives
  • Experience within research and education, membership organisations, not-for-profit organisations or international associations
  • Experience working across multiple countries, cultures or international partnerships
  • We recognise that people build experience in many different ways and don't expect candidates to meet every requirement. If you're technically curious, enjoy working with people and are excited by the opportunity to support services that enable secure collaboration across an international community, we'd love to hear from you.
