We are looking for a Technical Specialist BMW to become the trusted technical expert supporting BMW Bodyshops and dealerships across South Africa. In this highly visible role, you will work directly with one of the world's most respected automotive brands, helping customers maximize performance, productivity, quality, and profitability. The position can be based remotely anywhere in South Africa. As most customer sites are located in the Johannesburg region, regular travel within South Africa will be required. What You'll Do As the primary technical resource for BMW customers, you will play a critical role in ensuring exceptional technical support, customer satisfaction, and product performance. Customer Training & Technical Support Deliver technical training and coaching to BMW-approved bodyshops and dealerships. Support customers in adopting new products, technologies, processes, and best practices. Provide expert guidance on product application, color matching, paint processes, and defect identification. Act as the go-to technical specialist for the BMW product range. Customer Relationship Management Build trusted relationships with key customer stakeholders at all levels. Maintain regular communication through site visits, meetings, and day-to-day technical support. Partner with customers to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and operational performance. Serve as a strategic advisor, helping customers achieve their business and production objectives. Technical Problem Solving Investigate and resolve paint process and application issues. Conduct root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions. Collect samples and technical data for analysis, testing, and reporting when required. Utilize technical expertise and industry best practices to support effective troubleshooting and continuous improvement. Performance Monitoring & Data Analysis Gather and evaluate process data, including: Temperature and viscosity measurements Film build analysis Appearance measurements using Wave Scan technology Other performance and quality indicators Interpret results and identify trends or deviations. Prepare and communicate technical reports and recommendations to both customers and internal stakeholders. Escalate issues proactively when results fall outside expected performance parameters. Safety & Compliance Promote a strong safety culture at customer sites. Ensure safe product handling, application practices, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Lead by example and support customers in maintaining safe and compliant operations. Culture & Collaboration Beyond technical expertise, you'll play an important role in strengthening customer partnerships and supporting a culture of collaboration and excellence. What We're Looking For Technical Expertise Strong knowledge of automotive refinish paint systems, color matching, and paint application processes. Experience identifying and resolving paint defects and process-related issues. Understanding of bodyshop operations and application equipment. Knowledge of mix room operations and paint preparation processes. Experience using industry measurement and color tools, such as spectrophotometers and related equipment.
