Show job description

Founded in 1975 and based in Almere-Haven, Netherlands, Victron Energy is a leading innovator in power conversion equipment for the off-grid, motorhome, campervan, and marine sectors. We have built a strong reputation for reliability, quality, and cutting-edge technology. Our products, known for features like Bluetooth connectivity and software-driven solutions, are designed to make energy management seamless and efficient. With a commitment to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction, Victron Energy remains a trusted name in the industry, driving advancements in mobile power and home battery storage.

What you’ll do?

As a Technical Writer at Victron, you don’t write from a desk alone. You install, connect, and configure our products yourself, explore how they behave in real systems, and turn that first-hand understanding into high-quality documentation for our diverse product range. Your work will help customers, installers, and developers better understand and use our technology.

Victron is a no-nonsense organization with little paperwork. You won’t receive a complete specification for every product. Instead, you’ll set up the product, test it, ask engineers the right questions, and find the answers yourself. If you enjoy that kind of independent exploration, you’ll feel at home here.

Key responsibilities

  • Install, wire, and configure products and prototypes yourself, and turn what you learn into clear technical documentation (manuals, datasheets, application notes, etc.).

  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and support teams to verify your findings and fill in the gaps, rather than waiting for complete input.

  • Occasionally contribute to commercial content such as video scripts, blog posts, and marketing materials.

  • Ensure consistency, clarity, and accuracy across all documentation.

  • Engage with the Victron Community to stay informed and gather feedback.

What we’re looking for?

  • You feel comfortable around Victron products or similar electrical systems. Setting up an inverter, charger, or battery on the bench, connecting it, and exploring how it behaves before writing about it is something you enjoy.

  • You have proven experience in technical writing at medior or senior level (senior: 10+ years), preferably in the electrical or electronics domain.

  • Ideally, you have a background in electrical engineering or a related technical field.

  • You’re familiar with the Victron Community and ideally have been an active contributor.

  • You’re self-driven and proactive. You don’t wait for a complete specification but find the information you need by testing, asking questions, and digging into the product yourself.

  • You have excellent writing and communication skills in English.

  • You’re able to work from one of our offices in Almere, Eindhoven, or Groningen.

Why join our team?

  • Enjoy short lines to engineers and the freedom to explore products and find your own answers.

  • Get clear responsibilities, ownership, and the ability to make a real impact.

  • Work from any of our three offices across the Netherlands, each equipped with engineering labs where you can get hands-on with our products.

  • Benefit from an above-average salary and excellent perks.

  • Take advantage of our outstanding retirement plan and generous bonus scheme.

  • Collaborate with a motivated team of experts on innovative projects that push the boundaries of energy management.
