WHO WE ARE

GreenShield is a proudly Canadian, national non-profit health care and insurance organization, driven by our mission of Better Health for All. We believe health care is a right, not a privilege, and we are committed to improving health outcomes, advancing health equity, and building a future where every Canadian can reach their full health and well-being potential.

Through our unique integrated payer-provider ("payvider") model, we offer insurance, administer benefits, and pay claims as a ‘payer’ while offering health care services such as mental health, pharmacy, telemedicine, and chronic disease management as a ‘provider’. As a non-profit social enterprise without shareholders, we reinvest our excess earnings to directly support underserved communities. Through GreenShield Cares, we positively impacted the health and well-being of over one million Canadians between 2020 and 2025. What’s driving us now is the commitment to measurably impact an additional three million Canadians by 2030 – across mental health, essential medicines, and chronic disease management – through scalable initiatives that deliver meaningful change in pursuit of our mission of Better Health for All.

At GreenShield, our culture is where purpose meets passion and performance. Our teams work as one to deliver meaningful, measurable impact for the people and communities we serve.

THE ROLE IN A NUTSHELL

Base Salary: CAD $72,521.00 - 109,341.00

GreenShield is undergoing significant technology-enabled transformation, and is seeking a Technology Communications Manager to lead clear, consistent and engaging communications across the Digital & Technology portfolio.

Reporting to the Director, IT PMO, Business Planning & Strategy, the Manager will set the technology communications strategy and translate complex priorities, programmes and changes into audience-focused narratives that build understanding, confidence and adoption. The role will partner with Technology leaders, Corporate Communications, Enterprise Change Management, project teams and business stakeholders to ensure communications are coordinated, timely and aligned with enterprise priorities.
This is a hands-on role for an experienced communications professional who can move comfortably between strategy and execution, advise senior leaders, establish strong editorial and channel discipline, and develop high-quality content for employees and executive audiences.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Own and execute an integrated technology communications strategy aligned with Technology priorities, transformation roadmaps and enterprise objectives.
  • Act as a trusted communications adviser to Technology leaders, providing counsel on messaging, sequencing, audience needs, risks and stakeholder engagement.
  • Develop compelling narratives and executive-ready content, including leadership messages, presentations, town hall materials, programme updates, FAQs, intranet content, toolkits and short-form learning assets.
  • Lead communications for major technology initiatives, including AI enablement, digital employee experience, new platforms, system implementations and changes to technology processes or ways of working.
  • Create and manage an editorial calendar and communications governance approach that improves coordination, consistency and visibility across the Technology portfolio.
  • Partner with Change Management, Corporate Communications, pproject and product teams, and business stakeholders to align communications with change impacts, readiness activities, training and adoption plans.
  • Translate technical concepts, programme status and business impacts into clear, concise and audience-appropriate language.
  • Plan and support leadership forums, town halls, information sessions, campaigns and other engagement activities that build awareness and confidence in technology change.
  • Establish measures for communications effectiveness and use engagement, feedback and adoption insights to continuously improve plans and content.
  • Identify communications risks, gaps and stakeholder concerns early, and recommend practical mitigation actions.
  • Maintain high standards for quality, brand alignment, accessibility, confidentiality and accuracy across all technology communications.
  • Provide direction, coaching and quality oversight to communications contributors, agencies or partners, as applicable.

To succeed in this role

  • You are a strategic storyteller who can connect technology priorities to business outcomes and employee experience.
  • You build trusted relationships and confidently advise senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
  • You combine sound judgement and discretion with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and deliver.
  • You bring structure to a fast-moving environment and can manage competing priorities without compromising quality.
  • You are curious about emerging technology, including AI, and can make complex topics relevant and accessible to different audiences.
  • You use data and feedback to assess communications effectiveness and refine your approach.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Experience and education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business, Public Relations, Journalism, Technology, Organizational Development or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in internal, corporate or technology communications, including experience leading communications for complex transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience developing communications strategies and advising senior leaders in a large, matrixed organization.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling and presentation-development skills, with a portfolio of work for varied audiences and channels.
  • Experience managing multiple programmes, campaigns or communications workstreams in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience partnering across Communications, Change Management, Technology, HR and business functions.

Preferred experience

  • Experience communicating technology transformations such as AI adoption, digital workplace or employee experience initiatives, platform implementations, cloud transformation or cybersecurity programmes.
