Technology Risk Business Partner

London | Hybrid 2 days office | Up to £100,000 + Bonus + Benefits

Technology Risk | IT Risk | Cyber Risk | Technology Controls | Risk & Controls | NIST

Auricoe is searching for an experienced Technology Risk professional to join a leading UK financial services organisation in London.

This is a Technology Risk Business Partner position within second-line Risk, working closely with Technology leadership and first-line teams across Technology, Cyber and Information Security.

We're looking beyond candidates who simply know the frameworks.

The successful person will be able to get into the detail with Technology teams and engineers, understand what's really happening, build trusted relationships and translate technical issues into clear risk decisions for senior stakeholders.

You'll provide both support and independent challenge, helping Technology teams understand and manage risk effectively, while being prepared to challenge constructively where risks, controls or proposed solutions aren't appropriate.

The role

You'll work across a broad Technology Risk agenda, including:

  • Technology and Cyber risk assessments and controls
  • Control design, effectiveness and maturity
  • Risk issues, remediation and root-cause analysis
  • Risk acceptance and escalation
  • Technology change and investment
  • Infrastructure, cloud and wider Technology environments
  • Operational resilience and third-party Technology risk
  • Thematic reviews and emerging risks
  • Senior stakeholder and risk committee reporting

A separate second-line Cyber team is already in place, so you don't need to be a Cyber Security specialist. You do, however, need sufficient Technology and Cyber understanding to engage credibly with technical teams and provide effective risk challenge.

What we're looking for

You may currently be working as a:

Technology Risk Manager | IT Risk Manager | Technology Controls Manager | Technology Risk Business Partner | IT Risk & Controls Manager | Cyber Risk Manager | Operational Risk Manager – Technology

We're particularly interested in people who can demonstrate:

  • Strong Technology Risk, IT Risk or Technology Controls experience
  • The ability to build trusted relationships with Technology stakeholders
  • Examples of personally identifying risks or control weaknesses and driving improved outcomes
  • The ability to provide pragmatic support as well as independent challenge
  • Experience working directly with Technology, engineering, infrastructure, cloud or Cyber teams
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • The ability to translate technical issues into clear business and risk language
  • A curious, self-directed approach rather than waiting for risks to be brought to you
  • Experience within financial services or another highly regulated environment

First-line Technology Risk or Technology Controls experience would be particularly valuable, providing practical insight into how Technology risks and controls are managed within the business. Formal second-line experience is advantageous but isn't essential.

Knowledge of frameworks such as NIST and broader Technology/Cyber risk and maturity frameworks is useful. CRISC, CISA, CISM or CISSP would be advantageous but aren't essential.

This could be particularly attractive if you have built your career close to Technology and now want broader exposure to Technology Risk business partnering, senior stakeholder engagement and independent challenge.

Up to £100,000 base + discretionary bonus + benefits | Permanent | London | Hybrid – typically 2 days per week in the office
