Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Corning Incorporated is a world leader in specialty glass, ceramics, and optical physics — and at Corning Optical Communications (COC), we’re powering the connected world. We are seeking a Territory Sales Manager to grow our presence across Western NC and South Carolina, selling our end-to-end optical networking solutions to enterprise customers through a broad ecosystem of distributors, contractors, consultants, and end users.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and execute a territory sales plan; meet or exceed revenue targets across all assigned telecommunications product lines
- Develop and manage relationships across the full channel ecosystem — distributors, contractors, cable assembly houses, consultants, and end users — to maximize territory sales penetration
- Drive product preference through regular consultative sales calls; manage the buying process at strategic accounts to position Corning solutions over competitors
- Serve as solutions consultants to customers and distribution partners; deliver education and training programs to distributor teams to strengthen their ability to sell Corning products
- Maintain an active Opportunity Board of projects valued above $25K; provide accurate pipeline and forecast updates in Salesforce.com
- Partner with the Regional Manager and internal Corning teams to maximize resources, align territory priorities, and support company growth objectives
Education/Experience – Required
- Minimum of 4 years of Sales and/or Marketing experience OR military experience with communications infrastructure.
- Proven success in time and territory management, with a track record of exceeding goals.
- Business acumen, including an understanding of customer pain points and the fundamentals of a Profit and Loss statement.
- Experience building long-term, cooperative relationships with internal teams, channel partners, and end customers.
- Organizational agility, with the ability to navigate complex environments and align stakeholders.
- Collaborative mindset, sharing insights and aligning with team members and cross-functional teams to drive results.
- Exceptional teaching, training and motivational skills with the ability to lead small and large customer education sessions.
Other Requirements:
- Valid driver license
- Travel required 50-80% (local to the market)- Western NC and South Carolina
- Must be able to work effectively in an unstructured environment with minimum supervision from a home-based office
Desired Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Demonstrated experience in solution selling, with the ability to ask the right questions, shape discussions, and influence decisions
- Experience finding and developing relationships with new customers and generating new business

The range for this position is $77,145.00 - $106,075.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
