Overview
TISTA is seeking a Training Assistant to support the Project Coordinator in developing, updating, implementing, and delivering training programs for the abstraction and validation teams. In this role, you will research medical record documentation, address questions from abstractors and validation specialists, contribute to training plans and materials, monitor progress of participants in training, and provide clear, effective instruction aligned with customer requirements and organizational guidelines. Your work will strengthen team knowledge, promote consistent abstraction practices, safeguard the confidentiality of medical records and Protected Health Information (PHI), and enhance the accuracy and reliability of healthcare data used to assess standards of care and improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Review medical records and research clinical documentation to provide accurate guidance to abstractors and validation specialists.
- Evaluate and respond promptly to questions regarding abstraction guidelines and information documented in the medical record through the established training question process.
- Assist the Project Coordinator with developing and updating training plans, presentations, exercises, handouts, job aids, assessments, and other instructional materials.
- Support the delivery of training programs using approved outlines, materials, and instructional methods.
- Monitor participant progress, observe trainees, answer questions, and provide clear, constructive guidance.
- Participate in project workgroups focused on module development, training delivery, and process improvement.
- Follow established processes, procedures, customer specifications, and organizational guidelines.
- Maintain the security and confidentiality of medical records and Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Meet or exceed established standards for work quality, productivity, and attendance.
- Communicate and collaborate professionally with peers, coworkers, trainees, and project leadership to support a positive team environment.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in work involving medical record review
- 1-3 years of related experience supporting training activities
- Experience reviewing Hospital medical records and interpreting medical terminology, diagnosis, and disease process.
- Experience supporting training activities including preparing materials, monitoring participant progress, and answering training and abstraction questions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Ability to establish effective professional relationships with associates, managers, and customers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree
- Technical training in medical record review.
Education:
- High School diploma or GED, required
- Associate degree, preferred
Clearance:
- The ability to pass a Tier 2/Modest Background Investigation.
Location:
York, Pennsylvania/Remote, USA.
Pay Range:
- The pay for this position ranges from $47,730 to $54,500.
- The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
- Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as bonuses.
