GAI is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer 3 to join our Power Delivery team working remotely based in Homestead, PA. Required skills include transmission line design experience, critical thinking, problem solving, organization, team-focus with the ability to supervise & mentor junior staff, and eagerness to apply learned engineering principles to solve real life problems. The Engineer 3 is responsible for technical leadership and the successful review of client transmission line designs while maintaining the scope, schedule, budget, and quality of projects within GAI’s Transmission & Distribution Division. This individual should be technically focused and a strong leader with developed technical, communication, and computer skills. Competency Knowledge of electric utility transmission line engineering and design. Job Responsibilities: Complete day-to-day project tasks as required for successful project delivery. Tasks may include: Review and preparation of Specification Packages Review and preparation of Structural and Fabrication Drawings Review, design and Analysis of Transmission Lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Tower is a bonus Review, design and Analysis of foundations. Analysis of existing and proposed structures with regard to Client and Other required codes, standards, and specifications. Performance of Electrical Clearance checks and calculations. Apply engineering principles to assist in the design of Power Delivery Projects. Must demonstrate attention to detail. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Perform complex tasks typically following established processes. Implements effective engineering methods, provides technical guidance, and acts as a resource for engineers and designers. Directly manages projects with no limit to the number or value of individual projects managed. Training Comprehensive knowledge of transmission line design concepts and principles. Demonstrated track record of external customer engagements and building and maintaining successful client relationships. Required experience with PLS suite (PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE). Preferred experience with PLS-TOWER and FAD Tools. Physical Requirements Ability to work indoors in professional office settings. Ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer-based tasks. Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling office equipment. Visual acuity to read printed materials, digital screens, detailed documents, and perform detailed work. Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching within the office environment. Ability to move between workstations and attend in-person meetings. Ability to lift and carry office materials or equipment weighing up to 10-20 pounds, with or without assistance. Adequate hearing to participate in conversations, phone calls, and virtual meetings. Ability to travel for meetings, training, or business purposes. Minimum Years of Experience 8+ Years of Experience Education B.S. or M.S. Engineering Certification/Licensure Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, reciprocity in multiple states. Technical Responsibilities Develops and reviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance. Keeps informed of updates to standards, regulations, and best practices. Analyzes complex engineering projects to determine design requirements, uncertainties, and constraints. Project and Task Management Assigns tasks to other technical and non-technical staff. Predominantly plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the engineering work. Prepares scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments. Assists with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or projects. Management Responsibility Receives supervision and guidance relating to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters. Receives direction on unusual conditions and developments. Mentors’ direct reports and other engineers. Demonstrates professional attitudes relevant to the practice of engineering, including creativity, curiosity, flexibility, and dependability. Communication Skills Possesses advanced oral and written communication skills, including interpretation of complex technical and contractual language. Considers the needs of diverse project stakeholders. Leads project meetings and represents the organization in communications pertaining to broad aspects of engineering assignments.
