We are looking for a Transport Modeller with 5+ years of hands-on experience in PTV Visum to develop, calibrate and apply strategic travel demand models. The role supports traffic forecasting, public transport ridership estimation and transport infrastructure appraisal for highways, urban mobility, metro/MRTS and feasibility studies.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and update multi-modal transport models in PTV Visum: network coding, zoning systems, connectors, link types, volume-delay functions (VDF/BPR), turn penalties and junction capacity.
• Run the four-stage model (trip generation, trip distribution, mode choice, traffic assignment) for base and horizon years.
• Develop and calibrate OD matrices, including matrix estimation (TFlowFuzzy) from classified volume counts and OD surveys.
• Carry out private transport assignment (equilibrium, equilibrium Lohse, ICA) and public transport assignment (timetable-based, headway-based) for ridership estimation.
• Calibrate and validate models against observed data using GEH statistic, screenline and R² checks per DMRB/TAG/IRC standards.
• Run scenario testing and forecasting: network improvements, land-use changes, tolling, route rationalisation and demand growth.
• Use Procedure Sequence, Python/COM scripting and VBA to automate model runs and outputs.
• Extract and prepare outputs: PCU volumes, V/C ratios, Level of Service (LoS), travel time savings, VKT/VHT, select-link and select-zone analysis, flow bundles.
• Supply model inputs for economic appraisal (cost-benefit analysis, EIRR/FIRR, HDM-4) and toll revenue / traffic studies.
• Analyse traffic survey data: CVC, OD, TMC, speed-delay, parking and household surveys.
• Write model development reports (MDR), forecasting reports and presentations for clients and approving authorities.
• Coordinate with microsimulation teams (PTV Vissim) on demand inputs and junction-level studies.

  • M.Tech / M.E. / M.Sc. in Transportation Engineering, Transport Planning or Urban Planning (B.Tech/B.E. Civil with relevant experience considered).
  • 5+ years of transport modelling experience with strong command of PTV Visum.
  • Sound understanding of travel demand modelling theory: gravity models, logit/nested logit mode choice, assignment algorithms.
  • Experience on at least some of: highway/expressway feasibility (DPR), Comprehensive Mobility Plans (CMP), metro/BRT/MRTS ridership, Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA), toll plaza studies.
  • Working knowledge of IRC codes, MoRTH/NHAI guidelines and international standards (WebTAG/TAG, DMRB).
  • Strong Excel, GIS (QGIS/ArcGIS) and data-handling skills; Python preferred.
  • Clear technical writing and client-facing presentation skills.

• Exposure to PTV Vissim, CUBE, EMME, TransCAD or SATURN.
• Experience with activity-based models, land use–transport interaction (LUTI) or big data (GPS, mobile/app data, smart-card data).
• Experience mentoring junior modellers and reviewing model QA/QC.

At AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously. To support this commitment, all newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.
