Job Description
This position involves performing a variety of tasks related to Travel Accounting within a shared service organization. The role primarily focuses on auditing high-volume business travel expense reports and ensuring compliance with company travel policies, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and IRS guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Audit high volume business travel expense reports utilizing the CostPoint Expense Reporting application.
- Ensure expenses comply with company travel policy/procedures, GAAP, FAR, and IRS guidelines.
- Investigate discrepancies in expense reports.
- Provide guidance to employees on expense reporting policies and procedures.
- Manage unprocessed expense transactions.
- Export/Import expense reports in AP module weekly and resolve Project/Accounts errors.
- Process corrections and adjustments on expense reports.
- Perform maintenance for new/inactive foreign currencies in CostPoint Expense.
- Monitor outstanding travel advances.
- Communicate compliance issues for Travel and Expense to all levels of employees and management.
- Identify new ways to add value and proactively take on new tasks.
- Answer employee inquiries via email and phone calls.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Participate in special projects as assigned.
Essential Skills
- 1+ years of experience in expense report processing and auditing for a government contractor.
- 6+ months of recent experience with Costpoint and Deltek T&E.
- Basic proficiency in Excel, including using prebuilt templates for reports.
- Understanding of allowed vs unallowed per FAR Part 31 Cost Principles.
- Understanding of SOX and/or experience working for a public company.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
- Currency conversion experience.
- Minimal job hopping.
- Ability to articulate strong attention to detail and basic computer skills.
- Customer service proficiency to support employees at various levels, from entry-level to Executive VP.
Work Environment
The position is 100% remote, ideally in the EST or CST time zone. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM EST. The role requires availability from the week after Thanksgiving through the first week of January, with potential for a few days off if team coverage allows.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Virginia Beach, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
