Company Description L’Arche UK is a network of 11 communities across the United Kingdom where people with and without learning disabilities share life together. Each community is a place where individuals are valued for who they are, rather than for their achievements or status. L’Arche celebrates people with learning disabilities and creates strong circles of support around them. The organization focuses on meeting emotional and spiritual needs as well as practical support. This emphasis on relationships and belonging shapes a distinctive, person-centered culture that guides all aspects of its work.
Role Description The Trust Fundraiser is a full-time hybrid role based in England, United Kingdom, with a combination of some on-site work and flexibility to work from home. This role is responsible for identifying, researching, and cultivating relationships with trusts, foundations, and grant-making bodies that align with L’Arche UK’s mission. Day-to-day tasks include preparing high-quality funding applications, writing compelling impact reports, maintaining accurate records of submissions and outcomes, and managing a calendar of deadlines. The Trust Fundraiser will collaborate closely with colleagues and community members to gather stories, data, and project information that demonstrate the impact of L’Arche’s work. The role also involves stewardship of existing funders, monitoring grant requirements, and contributing to fundraising plans and income targets.
Qualifications
- Strong written communication skills, including experience crafting clear, persuasive funding applications and reports.
- Research and analytical abilities to identify suitable funding opportunities and interpret funder guidelines and priorities.
- Organisational and project management skills to handle multiple deadlines, maintain accurate records, and plan ahead for reporting and renewals.
- Relationship-building skills to engage funders, collaborate with internal teams, and represent L’Arche’s values in a professional manner.
- Commitment to inclusion, respect, and person-centered support for people with learning disabilities, with sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
- Comfort working in a hybrid environment, with the ability to work independently and as part of a geographically dispersed team.
- Previous experience in trust or grant fundraising, charity fundraising, or non-profit development is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with fundraising databases or CRM systems, and basic proficiency in standard office software (e.g., word processing and spreadsheets).
- Knowledge of the UK charity sector and funding landscape, particularly in social care, community, or disability support, is an advantage.
- Relevant education or training in fundraising, communications, or a related field is beneficial but not essential where equivalent experience is demonstrated.
