About The Role
Be part of this ‘once in a generation’ project that will deliver clean energy to 6 million homes for the next 60
years. Sizewell C will see the creation of a 3.2 Gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast to
provide reliable load low-carbon electricity.
The Civil Works Alliance is an extended delivery enterprise involving Sizewell C and three international
construction companies: Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O’Rourke.
We are more than just an alliance, we are bringing together a single delivery organisation with years of
learning and experience from other major complex infrastructure programmes worldwide.
What you'll be doing
The purpose of the role is to participate to all technical and engineering topics related to the TBM works.
Responsible For Developing The Technical Solutions For
- Temporary tunnel services strategy (pipes, duct, cables, brackets, pedestrian access, conveyor,
survey, communication, traffic)
- Power distribution in surface, shafts and tunnels
- Tunnel ventilation
- Water management (supply and recycling)
- Dewatering
- Water treatment
- Compressed air
- Slurry/foam systems
- TBM grout production and testing
- Utility consumption / load assessments
- Coordination with surface infrastructure providers
- Plant integration (gantry cranes, service vehicles, grout plant, conveyors...)
- Preparation of plant and equipment specification
- Prepare production cycles and size the plant and equipment for the required production output
- Preparation of TBM works method statement
- Provides input and supports the procurement team to get into contract with the relevant subcontractors
and suppliers
- Participate in the assessment of subcontractors and suppliers offers
- Provides input to the planning team
- Provides input to the cost estimating team
Who we're looking for
Knowledge & Skills
Essential
- TBM work experience minimum 5 years
- Should have participated in definition of plant and equipment for a TBM project
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems for a tunnel project
Desirable
- Knowledge of calculations for sizing metal and concrete structures
- Possess knowledge of lifting and handling operations
