What We Seek
At Carnegie Learning, we believe educators are the key to creating the next generation of great thinkers. We are looking for experienced, engaging educators to provide virtual academic support to K-5 students in Mathematics and English Language Arts.
Tutor Instructors deliver lessons and materials provided by Carnegie Learning in one-on-one and small-group settings of up to six students. You will use your instructional expertise to bring the lesson to life, build strong connections with students, check for understanding, and adjust your approach based on the learners in front of you.
We are currently hiring for a cohort of tutors, who can consistently work Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 5pm-7:30pm EST. Availability during these times on all three days is strongly preferred. Candidates with partial availability may be considered for substitute opportunities. This hiring group is expected to begin onboarding on January 4th, with tutoring sessions beginning on January 19th, 2027..
What Your Day Will Look Like
- Prepare to Teach: Review the provided lesson materials before each session and arrive ready to deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction.
- Connect With Students: Create a welcoming virtual environment and build relationships that help K-5 learners feel comfortable, motivated, and ready to participate.
- Deliver Virtual Instruction: Lead one-on-one or small-group Math and ELA sessions using Carnegie Learning lessons, materials, and virtual tools.
- Check for Understanding: Use purposeful questions and student responses to identify what learners understand, address misconceptions, and adjust instruction in the moment.
- Support Different Learning Needs: Provide appropriate encouragement, scaffolding, and extension for students who need additional support or greater challenge.
- Use Data and Feedback: Use available student information and coaching feedback to strengthen instruction and support student progress.
- Communicate and Follow Through: Maintain dependable attendance, complete required documentation and training on time, and communicate promptly about questions, technology issues, or changes that may affect scheduled sessions.
- Grow With Coaching: Participate in onboarding, periodic observations, and coaching, and apply feedback to continuously improve the student experience.
