๐ Embedded Engineer โ U-Boot / Cortex-A | Remote Europe | Outside IR35
An industry-leading semiconductor client is looking for a senior, experienced Embedded Engineer for a long-term contract, working fully from home (you can work from anywhere in Europe), on U-Boot and trusted firmware bootloader development for a next-generation high-end Cortex-A MPU.
This is genuine low-level bootloader / firmware work โ not application-level Linux or straightforward integration. Ideal for someone who enjoys working close to the hardware and has real porting experience.
The opportunity
๐ Fully remote โ work from anywhere in Europe
๐ Long-term contract โ targeting a start from early January
๐ฌ๐ง Outside IR35
๐ฐ Competitive day rate
๐ฏ One-stage interview process (Teams)
๐ง Work directly on a next-generation SoC and boot platform
What you'll be doing
โข Porting and bringing up U-Boot on a new SoC, working across the boot chain from early hardware bring-up
โข U-Boot and/or Arm TF-A bootloader development (BL2 / BL3) on high-end Cortex-A / MPU architectures
โข Contributing changes upstream through open-source processes
โข Supporting the platform with BSP, Device Tree and embedded Linux work
The client is particularly interested in engineers with experience in:
โข Embedded C and low-level development
โข U-Boot and/or ARM TF-A bootloader development
โข Open-source upstream processes
โข Cortex-A / high-end MPU architectures โ Renesas RZ or similar platforms
โข Linux BSPs, Device Tree and embedded Linux
โข Yocto and Linux kernel debugging
โข Hardware bring-up and debug
If you have hands-on U-Boot porting experience on a new SoC and you're based in Europe, I'd love to hear from you. Apply here or message me directly for a confidential conversation.
