About the Client Our client is a US-based business supporting small business clients with accounting and financial services. They are growing their finance team and are looking for a Bookkeeper to help maintain accurate financial records and support day-to-day bookkeeping activities. This role will contribute to the team's ability to provide timely and reliable financial information to clients. The Role As a Bookkeeper, you'll be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, performing reconciliations, and supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll-related bookkeeping. You'll also assist with month-end and year-end activities, journal entries, and basic financial reporting. The role requires a strong understanding of bookkeeping fundamentals and an awareness of how financial records can affect US tax reporting. While you won't be responsible for preparing tax returns, familiarity with common US tax forms such as 1040, W-2, and 1099 is preferred. What You'll Do Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online and Xero. Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations and investigate discrepancies. Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions. Assist with payroll-related bookkeeping and recordkeeping. Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger and supporting schedules. Support month-end and year-end bookkeeping activities. Prepare basic financial reports and provide accurate financial information to support client needs. Apply proper bookkeeping principles, including debits, credits, and double-entry accounting. Work with the team to ensure bookkeeping records are complete, accurate, and properly supported. What We're Looking For Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role. Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, debits and credits, journal entries, and account reconciliations. Experience using QuickBooks Online, Xero, or similar accounting platforms. Experience handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll-related transactions. Good understanding of general ledger accounting and financial statements. Basic understanding of how bookkeeping records and financial statements affect US tax reporting. Familiarity with common US tax forms such as Form 1040, W-2, and 1099. Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify discrepancies in financial records. Ability to work independently and manage multiple bookkeeping tasks. Good written and verbal communication skills. Nice to Have QBO ProAdvisor or Xero certification. Additional exposure to US tax preparation or US-focused accounting processes.
