About the role

The Income Tax Manager will be responsible for all areas of U.S. corporate income tax compliance for a multistate, multinational enterprise, and play a key role in the tax provision process. The position will report to the Director of Finance – Global Tax based in the US and will oversee a team of 5 local income tax analysts. The role will have exposure to many areas of the US and international income tax environment and will provide ongoing opportunities for learning and growth.

The ideal candidate is AI-curious and AI-literate, with a genuine eagerness to learn and apply AI and automation tools such as Alteryx to help modernize the tax function, elevate quality, and drive continuous improvement — in alignment with Company AI policy.

Key responsibilities:

Tax Compliance & Reporting

  • Supervise all areas of US corporate income tax compliance, including the preparation and review of Federal, State, and City corporate income tax returns in a timely and accurate manner using Corptax tax software.
  • The company operates in approximately 30 countries. US income tax footprint includes one consolidated US corporate Federal return, one US Federal partnership return, ~150 US State returns, and ~50 active international compliance forms for non-US group entities (5471/8858/8865)
  • Supervise the calculation, review, and filing of quarterly tax estimates and extension payments.
  • Manage all aspects of federal and state tax depreciation, including tracking the Company’s fixed assets for tax purposes using Sage FAS software and computing the fixed asset deferred tax balance. Future state will include an eventual transition to maintenance of fixed assets in Workday
  • Handle daily corporate tax functions such as addressing notices, handling tax payments and mailings, and communicating with other business associates.
  • Ownership of the legislative development tracker and integration of new positions into the tax provision and compliance calculations, including leading recurring team touch points to review new updates
  • Conduct tax research using Thomson Reuters Checkpoint and produce technical memorandums.
  • Maintenance of the annual compliance calendar process, including assignment of work to teammates and helping to transition the department out of Excel calendars and into Microsoft or other automated tools

Tax Provision & Accounting

  • Assist with the quarterly and annual tax provision calculations, including computation of book-tax differences and deferred tax balances, entry of data into OneSource tax provision software, and producing and reconciling tax provision reports.
  • Manage quarterly calendar, task assignment, and workflow steps. Current process is in Excel; the ideal candidate will be able to assist in the transition out of Excel into tools such as Power Automate and Microsoft Planner

Controls, Audit & Risk

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (“SOX”) requirements.
  • Partner in income tax audits by gathering supporting documentation in response to information requests from taxing authorities and liaising with auditors.

AI, Automation & Process Innovation

  • Future state will include Alteryx automation and a newly implemented Workday ERP. The ideal candidate should be interested and willing to actively engage in the building of new and better process automation using Alteryx workflows.
  • Introduce and maintain highly repeatable and reliable processes.
  • Apply AI-enabled tools to streamline routine work — for example, extracting and summarizing data from tax notices, information document requests (IDRs), invoices, and technical memos, and preparing first-pass workpapers and documentation for review.
  • Partner with and support the Tax Technology Lead on the tax function’s automation and digital transformation — assisting in identifying, prioritizing, and piloting opportunities (e.g., Alteryx, Power Query, RPA) that reduce manual effort across return preparation, provision, and reconciliations.
  • Stay current on AI and tax-technology developments and help upskill the team — encouraging responsible, policy-aligned experimentation and the adoption of proven tools.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Build, maintain, develop, and motivate a team of income tax analysts.
  • Support other special projects and tasks as they arise.

Be AmbITious: This opportunity is not just about what you do today but also about where you can go tomorrow. When you bring your hunger, heart, and harmony to Insight, your potential will be met with continuous opportunities to upskill, earn promotions, and elevate your career.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy/Finance from a four-year college or university.
  • Ten (10) years related experience and/or training in preparing consolidated corporate income tax returns and performing tax research.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience directly managing or supervising a team, with a proven ability to develop, mentor, and motivate staff.
  • Public accounting experience or commensurate industry experience preferred. Big 4 experience preferred (Deloitte, EY, KPMG, PwC)
  • CPA preferred.
  • Knowledge of consolidated corporate income tax law, nexus and interstate commerce rules, and the US GAAP standards for accounting for income taxes (ASC 740).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), Corptax, OneSource tax provision software (“Tax Stream”), Sage FAS, and Thomson Reuters Checkpoint.
  • Must be self-motivated, able to effectively manage the productivity and workflow allocation of a team, adhere to a task-based calendar, and conduct all work and interaction with all levels of employees in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated curiosity about — and willingness to learn and apply — AI and automation tools including but not limited to Alteryx in day-to-day tax work, in alignment with Company AI policy.
  • Exposure to data, analytics, and automation tools (e.g., Power Query, Power BI, Alteryx, RPA, or AI/LLM-based tools) a plus.
  • Position can be remote-based 4 days per week, with the exception of Friday, which is the team’s in-office day.
