Built on meritocracy, our unique company culture rewards self-starters and those who are committed to doing what is best for our customers.
Brown & Brown is seeking a UX Developer to join our growing team!
Brown & Brown's Innovation team builds the next generation of digital experiences for our clients, agents, and service teams across Property & Casualty.
We're looking for a UX Developer who knows insurance and can bridge design and engineering - someone who understands how a quote, a policy change, a certificate request, or a first notice of loss actually works, and can build interfaces that make that complexity feel simple.
You'll turn designs and ideas into fast, accessible, production-ready front ends for new client-facing and internal products - from multi-persona client portals to AI-assisted service tools. You'll prototype quickly, build and maintain our component library, and partner closely with product, design, engineering, and business leaders inside a fast-moving innovation group.
How you will Contribute:
- Build production UI - develop responsive, high-quality web interfaces for P&C innovation products using React, TypeScript, and modern CSS.
- Prototype fast - turn concepts and Figma designs into clickable, coded prototypes for pilots, user testing, and executive demos.
- Own the design system in code - build and maintain a reusable component library (e.g., Storybook) that keeps products consistent and speeds delivery.
- Simplify insurance workflows - implement quoting, endorsements, renewals, certificates of insurance, billing, and claims (FNOL through settlement) journeys that are easy to use.
- Design for multiple personas - build experiences for policyholders, commercial clients, producers/agents, account managers, and claims teams.
- Build AI-enabled experiences - implement conversational, assistive, and document-intake interfaces that are clear, trustworthy, and compliant.
- Champion accessibility and performance - deliver to WCAG 2.2 AA, optimize load times, and test across browsers and devices.
- Integrate with the platform - connect front ends to APIs and back-end services, working closely with engineers on data, security, and state management.
- Close the design–dev loop - join research and usability sessions, suggest UX improvements, and iterate based on analytics and user feedback.
Skills and Experience to be Successful:
- 5+ years building user interfaces as a UX developer, UI engineer, or front-end developer.
- 2+ years of experience in Property & Casualty insurance (carrier, broker, MGA, or insurtech), with working knowledge of personal and/or commercial lines workflows.
- Strong skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and React (or a similar modern framework).
- Experience building and maintaining component libraries or design systems.
- Solid understanding of UX principles, interaction design, and accessibility (WCAG) - you care how it feels, not just that it works.
- Comfortable working from Figma and collaborating directly with designers and product managers.
- Experience with REST/GraphQL APIs, Git, and CI/CD workflows.
- A portfolio or code samples showing shipped, user-facing work.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, HCI, design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Nice to have
- Experience building agent/producer portals, client self-service portals, or claims experiences.
- Experience with GenAI UI patterns (chat, copilots, streaming responses, document upload and review).
- Familiarity with insurance platforms such as Applied Epic, Vertafore, Guidewire, or Duck Creek.
- Skills in UX design tools and methods (Figma, wireframing, usability testing).
- Experience with Next.js, Tailwind, testing tools (Jest, Playwright), or cloud platforms (Azure/AWS).
- Industry credentials (e.g., CPCU, AINS).
