Dream Theory

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Work model: Hybrid remote/in-studio

Dream Theory is an AI-assisted visual effects studio working across commercial, film, and television projects. We combine traditional VFX techniques with generative technology to deliver high-quality work through practical, evolving production workflows.

We’re looking for a VFX Editor with strong DaVinci Resolve skills and a particular strength in quality control and delivery management to join our Toronto team.

This role sits at the final stage of our VFX pipeline. You’ll organize finished shots, check technical and visual quality, and prepare accurate, consistent deliveries for clients and post-production partners. It’s a good fit for someone with experience in VFX editorial, an I/O department, online finishing, or colour assisting who enjoys the precision of getting work ready to leave the studio.

What you’ll be doing

  • Organizing, checking, and packaging outgoing VFX deliveries across multiple projects
  • Performing detailed visual QC, identifying issues such as artifacts, flicker, matte edges, grain mismatches, colour inconsistencies, and frame errors
  • Verifying technical specifications, including resolution, frame rate, frame ranges, handles, codecs, naming conventions, and colour space
  • Using DaVinci Resolve to assemble, review, compare, and export shots and sequences
  • Maintaining clear version control and delivery records so the correct approved shots reach the right destination
  • Flagging issues with specific, actionable notes and coordinating fixes with artists and production
  • Checking colour management through the delivery pipeline, including transforms, LUTs, metadata, and output settings
  • Supporting context edits and maintaining current shots in sequence alongside the wider team
  • Helping improve QC procedures and delivery workflows as the studio grows

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in VFX editorial, I/O, online finishing, colour assisting, or a related post-production role
  • Proficiency in DaVinci Resolve, particularly media management, conforming, QC, and exporting
  • A meticulous eye for image quality and the patience to review work closely and consistently
  • A strong understanding of professional delivery formats, image sequences, codecs, timecode, and version management
  • Confidence working with colour-managed workflows and identifying unexpected shifts between source material, review files, and final outputs
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deliveries and shifting deadlines
  • Clear communication and good judgment about when to flag an issue before work leaves the studio
  • Comfort working with both traditional and generative VFX material

Especially valuable

  • Strong colour science knowledge or a background as a colour assistant
  • Familiarity with ACES, OCIO, log workflows, and colour space transforms
  • Experience delivering to commercial, broadcast, or feature post-production specifications
  • Familiarity with Nuke or Adobe After Effects
  • Experience identifying temporal inconsistencies and other artifacts in AI-generated footage

We’re a boutique studio where attention to detail has a direct impact on the work we deliver. You’ll help establish reliable standards for our final outputs and work closely with artists and production to keep deliveries organized, consistent, and on time.

Dream Theory operates as a hybrid remote/in-studio workplace. This position is based in Toronto and requires regular access to our downtown studio.

To apply, please send your résumé and a short introduction to hiring@dreamtheory.io. Include a brief overview of your experience with QC, delivery workflows, and colour management.
