Company Leadership
- Serve as a member of the agency leadership team, contributing to company strategy, growth, succession planning, risk management, and operational decision-making.
- Partner with the President and cross-functional leaders to align priorities, resources, and departmental plans with broader organizational goals.

Department Leadership
- Set the strategic direction and priorities for the Account Management department, with accountability for its overall performance, growth, profitability, and long-term success.
- Establish and monitor department goals and performance measures, including client retention, revenue, margin, utilization, employee engagement, and retention.
- Oversee portfolio health, client satisfaction, and account performance, ensuring risks are addressed and teams consistently deliver high-quality work that meets client objectives and agency standards.
- Provide executive-level oversight and strategic guidance across key accounts, brands, and high-impact client engagements.
- Anticipate staffing, capacity, capability, and workload needs, aligning recruitment, resourcing, and skills development with current and future business demands.
- Develop Account Management leaders through priority-setting, delegation, validation, coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
- Establish department-wide processes, tools, and ways of working that improve service quality, operational efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
- Foster strong executive client relationships and effective collaboration across departments in support of client and business objectives.
Financial Leadership
- Partner with Finance, Operations, and President to develop department budgets, revenue forecasts, staffing plans, and long-range financial strategies.
- Oversee department and portfolio financial performance, including revenue, profitability, utilization, expenses, forecasting, and account health.
- Review and approve project estimates, Statements of Work, and significant scope changes to ensure appropriate resourcing, accurate forecasting, and financial viability.
- Use financial and operational data to inform resource allocation, staffing investments, risk mitigation, and performance improvement.
- Build financial acumen and accountability among Account Management leaders, ensuring they understand the broader business implications of their decisions.
Business Development
- Protect and grow existing business by ensuring delivery excellence, strong client relationships, and continued alignment with evolving client needs.
- Drive organic growth across the client portfolio by guiding teams in identifying opportunities, developing strategic recommendations, and expanding the value delivered to clients.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities with pipeline assets or expanded service options.
- Support Business Development-led pursuits through opportunity assessment, pitch strategy, proposal development, capabilities presentations, prospective client meetings.
- Partner with agency and cross-functional leadership to shape growth priorities, service offerings, and solutions that respond to market and client needs.
- Travel up to 20% of the time to support client meetings, business development activities, strategic engagements, and key organizational initiatives, including an expectation to be onsite at the company office or client location approximately 3-4 days per month.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in medical communications, medical education, pharmaceutical marketing, corporate or brand communications, or a related healthcare communications field.
- Minimum 5 years leading medical communications accounts, strategic client engagements, and account teams.
- Demonstrated success leading complex client portfolios, cross-functional teams, departmental priorities, and organizational initiatives.
- Proven ability to strengthen client relationships, drive organic growth, support new business opportunities, and expand strategic partnerships.
- Strong financial acumen, including experience with revenue forecasting, profitability, utilization, resourcing, scope management, and budget oversight.
- Experience developing leaders, managing performance, building succession readiness, and aligning team capabilities with business needs.
- Deep understanding of medical communications strategy, scientific storytelling, content development, therapeutic landscapes, pharmaceutical development, and healthcare market dynamics.
- Excellent executive communication, presentation, negotiation, influence, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and change leadership capabilities.
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity, create structure, prioritize competing demands, and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
