About Blue J
Blue J is the leading generative AI solution for tax professionals and one of Canada's fastest-growing AI companies. Headquartered in Toronto, we're a high-growth B2B SaaS company building industry-leading tax research software that helps accountants find accurate answers to complex tax questions with greater speed and confidence.
Backed by a $122M USD Series D funding round, we're scaling rapidly across North America and the UK while continuing to push the boundaries of what's possible with AI. By combining advanced technology with deep tax expertise, we empower tax professionals to work more efficiently, make better decisions, and deliver greater value to their clients.
A Note on Location
We’re excited to meet with qualified candidates and are grateful for everyone’s interest. Candidates who are within driving distance of our Kitchener–Waterloo or Toronto offices will be expected to work from the office a couple of days each week. The role also includes occasional travel for industry events, trade shows, and conferences. All candidates must be eligible to work in Canada or the US.
To help you get off to a great start, we bring all new team members together for their first three days of onboarding. If you’re based outside of our local commuting area, Blue J will arrange and cover your travel and accommodation.
The Opportunity
We’re hiring a VP, Growth Marketing to build and scale growth for the category leader in AI for tax, with funding and executive support.
You’ll lead Demand Generation, Events, and Partner Marketing, owning strategy, budget, and execution to drive qualified pipeline, revenue, and paid customer growth through account-based marketing (ABM) and trial acquisition.
In our product-led segments, you’ll grow qualified trial sign-ups aligned with our ideal customer profile and improve acquisition efficiency and website and campaign conversion. You’ll partner with Product-led Growth, which owns activation and trial-to-paid conversion, alongside Revenue Operations and Finance to refine targeting, messaging, and investment.
In our sales-led segments, you’ll engage priority accounts and buying groups, generate qualified opportunities, and support deal progression in collaboration with Sales, Partnerships, Product Marketing, Brand, and Revenue Operations. Partner marketing will also contribute directly to partners’ annual recurring revenue targets.
We’re looking for a growth leader with experience developing teams and delivering measurable growth through strategic planning, practical execution, and experimentation. You’ll use data to guide decisions, explain what contributed to results, and collaborate across the business to build alignment.
What You’ll be Doing
Scale product-led acquisition
- Translate annual recurring revenue (ARR) goals into trial acquisition plans by segment, market, and source, using activation and conversion assumptions agreed with the Product-led Growth team.
- Grow qualified trial sign-ups from customers who align with our ideal customer profile (ICP) through paid and organic channels, content, growth loops, and partners, while improving offers, landing pages, and sign-up journeys.
- Partner with Product-led Growth to understand performance across customer cohorts and refine acquisition to improve activation, paid conversion, and payback.
Scale sales-led growth through account-based marketing
- Translate ARR goals into pipeline targets and account-based marketing (ABM) plans by segment, market, and account tier.
- Collaborate with Sales on target accounts, buying groups, and messaging, coordinating engagement across campaigns, events, partners, and outreach.
- Grow qualified pipeline volume across mid-market and enterprise segments, using closed-revenue outcomes to refine targeting and investment.
Build a culture of experimentation
- Establish ongoing testing and learning across audiences, messaging, offers, channels, and conversion, with clear hypotheses and decisions informed by results.
- Expand effective approaches, adjust or discontinue those that aren’t meeting objectives, and turn insights into repeatable practices.
- Use AI and automation to support research, execution, personalization, and analysis.
Connect demand generation, events, and partner marketing
- Build integrated campaigns that engage relevant prospects and support trial acquisition and meaningful sales conversations.
- Develop events that contribute measurably to opportunity creation and deal progression.
- Develop joint plans with partners to engage their audiences, support co-selling, and contribute to partner ARR targets.
- Adapt programs for the UK market and allocate budget based on evidence and expected return.
Collaborate across the revenue organization
- Partner with Sales, Product-led Growth, Product Marketing, Brand, and Revenue Operations on targeting, qualification, customer journey design, messaging, and consistent, reliable measurement.
- Share performance insights with executive leadership, including progress, changes, learnings, and decisions that need input.
Build and support an effective team
- Coach and support the development of leaders across Demand Generation, Events, and Partner Marketing, setting clear priorities and creating opportunities to experiment and learn.
- Develop a mix of internal team members, agencies, and specialist expertise that supports team and business needs.
- Support the team in strengthening strategic thinking, analytical practices, effective execution, and contributions to business outcomes.
What You Offer Blue J
- B2B SaaS growth at scale. You’ve helped scale a business from $40M to $150M ARR, with measurable contributions from trial acquisition and qualified pipeline. You can quantify your results, investment, and revenue impact, and distinguish your contribution from other factors.
- Product-led acquisition expertise. You’ve scaled qualified trial acquisition, improved visitor-to-trial conversion, and used growth loops, and can show how your programs affected activation, trial-to-paid conversion, and payback.
- Account-based marketing expertise. You’ve built coordinated ABM programs with Sales that engaged buying groups and grew qualified pipeline and revenue, adapting by account tier and sales cycle.
- UK and European pipeline experience. You’ve delivered qualified pipeline and revenue in the UK and/or Europe, adapting targeting, messaging, channels, events, and partner programs to local buyers.
- Performance and organic marketing depth. You’ve built acquisition programs and conversion journeys that diagnose performance beyond channel metrics, and grown qualified traffic through SEO, AEO, GEO, and content, including reaching professionals in consumer-dominated topics like tax.
- Strong commercial judgment. You understand pipeline quality, sales cycles, acquisition economics, and the trade-offs between immediate returns and future growth, and you’ve integrated events and partner marketing into a measurable revenue strategy.
- An experimental, adaptable approach. You move quickly with imperfect information, challenge assumptions, and change course when the evidence warrants it.
- Leadership and influence. You’ve built strong teams with high standards and shared accountability, earned trust across functions, and can shape company growth strategy while still getting into the funnel data when needed.
- Experience with commercial partner ecosystems or software for tax, accounting, or other professional markets is a plus.
- Comfortable leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to drive efficiency, improve workflows, and stay ahead of industry trends
What Success Looks Like
You’ll connect marketing investment to our ARR goals with a credible plan and a faster, more accountable operating rhythm. Success means sustained growth in qualified pipeline and trial sign-ups from our target segments, and a team that can tie its work directly to revenue.
What We Offer You
- A rare opportunity to build the growth engine for an AI SaaS company at a pivotal moment for the tax market.
- A mission-driven culture where your work directly advances clarity, efficiency, and accessibility in tax research.

- Flexibility in how you work: primarily remote, with occasional travel to our Toronto office and conferences as needed.
- A collaborative, ambitious, and supportive team that values innovation, respect, and fun.
- The excitement of a fast-growing, well-funded company with clear momentum, and the resources to back bold initiatives.
