Type: Permanent | 1 Vacancy (with multiple location options)

As one of the country’s most influential national health organizations, the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) plays a central role in shaping the future of health care in Canada. The CMA unites physicians across the country, advocates for system transformation and champions the public interest. As the organization advances its enterprise priorities, it is strengthening the information management, technology, cybersecurity and AI capabilities that enable our mission and support our people.

Reporting to the Executive Vice-President, Corporate Services and CFO, the Vice-President, Information Management and Information Technology (IM/IT) provides enterprise-wide leadership, governance and oversight for information management, technology, AI and cybersecurity across the CMA. A highly engaged and collaborative leader, they will align IM/IT investments, platforms and practices with organizational strategy, enterprise architecture, risk requirements and approved priorities.

The Vice-President will develop an integrated enterprise information management and technology strategy, operating model and roadmap, and establish clear decision rights, standards and governance for technology, information management, cybersecurity, data architecture and AI. Working closely with the Executive Leadership Team, relevant governance bodies and business leaders at the CMA, they will provide strategic counsel on opportunities, investments, dependencies and risks, while ensuring clear reporting on performance and value realization.

This role is accountable for enterprise information management, including data governance, architecture, enterprise information platforms, analytics capabilities, and responsible AI governance, adoption and enablement. The Vice-President will also direct reliable technology operations and service delivery across cybersecurity, cloud and network infrastructure, identity and access management, enterprise applications, collaboration platforms, integrations, backup, disaster recovery and business continuity. They will oversee operating budgets, technology lifecycle planning, vendors and contracts, and hold delivery partners accountable for service, project and risk outcomes.

The Vice-President will lead the transformation and modernization of the IM/IT operating model, enhance operational planning, portfolio management and delivery disciplines, and strengthen the capabilities and capacity required to meet evolving enterprise needs. Working in close partnership with business leaders, they will ensure priorities and trade-offs are transparent, demand is aligned with organizational capacity, and investments deliver practical and measurable value. They will balance reliable day-to-day operations with longer-term modernization, build the internal capabilities and cross-enterprise partnerships required for the future, and reinforce disciplined execution, project governance and benefits realization.

The Vice-President, IM/IT will be a visible, compelling and highly engaged leader who brings energy, optimism and momentum to a team navigating significant change. They will establish trust and stability, communicate frequently and authentically, create a strong sense of shared purpose, and actively reconnect and motivate employees. Through an accessible and hands-on leadership style, they will set clear direction, recognize contributions, develop leaders and capability, and foster the confidence, cohesion and accountability needed for the team to succeed.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned IM/IT executive with significant senior leadership experience and enterprise-wide accountability in a complex, dynamic organization. They bring demonstrated success developing and implementing IM/IT strategies, overseeing cybersecurity for a multi-faceted organization and leading multidisciplinary teams through transformation and uncertainty. They are a visible, energetic and credible people leader with a track record of rebuilding trust, strengthening engagement and creating clarity, confidence and momentum. With strong business acumen, an enterprise perspective and sufficient technical breadth to provide credible enterprise leadership, the successful candidate will make complex information clear, influence senior audiences, build alignment and move from strategy to measurable results.

This is a significant opportunity to shape the secure, scalable and data-enabled foundation of a national association, strengthening the CMA’s capabilities and supporting its long-term impact.
