Vice President of Hospice Operations (VP)

Central Region – Texas & Oklahoma

This VP, Hospice Operations is responsible for overseeing multi-location hospice operations, driving clinical and operational excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting sustainable growth. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with extensive hospice experience, strong financial and operational acumen, and a proven ability to lead high-performing teams across multiple markets.

  • Provide executive oversight and strategic direction for hospice operations across multiple locations and markets.
  • Lead and develop regional and branch leadership teams to ensure operational excellence, accountability, and consistent performance.
  • Drive key operational metrics, including census growth, admissions, patient retention, quality outcomes, staffing efficiency, and profitability.
  • Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute operational strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Oversee financial performance, budgets, labor management, and resource allocation to achieve operational and financial objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation, CMS regulations, state requirements, and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with clinical and sales leadership to support referral relationships, market expansion, and census growth.
  • Establish standardized processes, workflows, and best practices across hospice locations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve patient care, employee engagement, operational efficiency, and overall performance.
  • Support acquisitions, new market development, and operational integration initiatives.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop operational leaders while building a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor performance dashboards and operational reporting to identify trends, address challenges, and drive measurable results.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in hospice operations, including multi-site or regional oversight.
  • Demonstrated success leading hospice operations across multiple locations or markets.
  • Strong knowledge of Medicare hospice regulations, CMS Conditions of Participation, and healthcare compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience managing operational budgets, financial performance, staffing, and productivity.
  • Track record of driving census growth, improving operational performance, and achieving quality outcomes.
  • Strong executive leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support operational locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, or a related field.
  • RN licensure or clinical leadership background.
  • Experience overseeing hospice operations across multiple states.
  • Experience with hospice acquisitions, integrations, and organizational expansion.
  • Familiarity with Homecare Homebase (HCHB) or similar healthcare management systems.
  • Experience working within a large or rapidly growing hospice organization.
