What is a Vice President of Learning and Development?

The Vice President of Learning and Development serves as the executive leader responsible for CSD's enterprise-wide learning and development strategy. This role oversees employee learning and professional development initiatives across the organization, including New Hire Training, CSD University, clinician and leadership development, continuing education, competency management, and clinical progression pathways.

The Vice President will build scalable learning systems that strengthen employee capability, accelerate career growth, support internal mobility, and ensure our teams are equipped to deliver exceptional client care. This role will partner closely with clinical, operational, talent, quality, compliance, technology, research, and executive leaders to make learning a key driver of organizational growth and excellence.

What your role is:

  • Establish and execute CSD's enterprise learning and development strategy in alignment with organizational priorities, clinical excellence, growth plans, and workforce needs.

  • Create a long-term vision for employee growth, competency development, career progression, and leadership readiness across the organization.

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of new hire onboarding and training experiences.

  • Develop scalable, competency-based onboarding pathways that accelerate employee readiness, confidence, engagement, and performance.

  • Provide strategic oversight of CSD University, ensuring learning pathways support employees throughout their careers and create meaningful opportunities for internal advancement.

  • Build and strengthen career progression frameworks tied to competencies, professional development, and internal promotion pathways.

  • Oversee clinician learning systems, academies, professional development programs, continuing education, Learn & Apply Workshops, leadership development events, and specialized clinical training.

  • Partner with Lead Clinical Directors, Directors of New Hire Training, the Board of Clinical Quality, and other clinical leaders to ensure training reflects current best practices and CSD's evolving clinical models.

  • Provide executive oversight of leadership development programs, including New Hire Academy, Clinical Leader Academy, Clinical Director Academy, Leadership Academy, PACE Masterclass, and future Academy coursework.

  • Develop leadership pipelines and succession planning systems that support growth from Behavior Specialist through executive leadership.

  • Establish organization-wide competency frameworks, role-specific competency maps, and systems to assess, track, and improve employee readiness and performance.

  • Oversee competency validation and remediation processes, including opportunities to integrate automated remediation into applicable training and professional development programs.

  • Lead the adoption of innovative learning technologies and instructional methodologies, including microlearning, AI-enabled learning systems, simulation-based learning, and virtual learning environments.

  • Ensure learning experiences are engaging, interactive, measurable, learner-centered, and scalable across CSD's service lines and locations.

  • Establish learning KPIs, dashboards, and reporting systems to measure training completion, competency attainment, certification attainment, promotion rates, engagement, retention, and other workforce outcomes.

  • Use learning analytics, employee feedback, and organizational data to evaluate program effectiveness and guide strategic investments in workforce development.

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth throughout CSD.

  • Develop initiatives that increase participation in learning opportunities while supporting employee engagement, retention, performance, and career development.

  • Partner closely with Talent Acquisition, Operations, Clinical Services, Quality Assurance, Compliance, Research, Technology, and Executive Leadership to support organizational priorities and change management initiatives.

  • Serve as an organizational thought leader in workforce development, adult learning, instructional design, and leadership development.

  • Represent CSD at professional conferences, industry events, educational partnerships, and other external opportunities that advance CSD's learning and development strategy.

  • Maintain current knowledge of trends and innovations in behavioral healthcare, autism services, adult learning, professional education, leadership development, and workforce training.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

What's required from you?

  • Master's degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, Applied Behavior Analysis, or a related field required; doctoral degree preferred.

  • BCBA preferred; equivalent leadership and workforce development experience will be considered.

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in learning and development, training, organizational development, or workforce development.

  • Demonstrated success building and scaling learning programs, professional development initiatives, and leadership pipelines.

  • Experience leading enterprise-level onboarding, training, competency management, and professional development programs.

  • Strong knowledge of instructional design, adult learning theory, organizational psychology, and change management.

  • Experience managing learning management systems and other learning and training technologies.

  • Proven ability to use data and learning analytics to evaluate program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.

  • Exceptional presentation, facilitation, coaching, communication, and executive leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive employee engagement, retention, performance, and professional growth through learning initiatives.

  • Strong judgment, decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to exercise confidentiality and discretion in all aspects of the role.

  • Ability to interpret and implement policies, procedures, and regulations appropriately.

  • Proficiency with computer and word-processing software.

  • Ability to obtain criminal record clearance through the Department of Justice.

  • Ability to travel to multiple work sites as needed; reliable transportation required, including proof of a valid driver's license, current auto insurance identification card, and an acceptable driving record per NIAC standards.

  • Constant visual stimulation, including close and distance vision, reading, and computer work.

  • Constant sitting with frequent movement in and out of a chair.

  • Constant use of the telephone, including speaking and listening.

  • Frequent typing and computer use.

  • Frequent document handling, filing, and use of office equipment.

  • Occasional walking throughout the building.

  • Occasional bending, reaching, stooping, pulling, lifting, carrying, or moving items up to 20 pounds.

  • Occasional driving, including walking to and entering a vehicle and using upper and lower limbs to operate the vehicle.
