Reports To: CEO & Executive Producer, and President, Entertainment & Media
Location: Toronto, ON / Calgary, AB / Vancouver, BC (Flexible / Hybrid within Canada)
Position Type: Full-Time Executive
Company Overview
Titan1Studios is an independent entertainment studio and production company originating high-concept, IP-driven film, television, digital content, and interactive digital media for global audiences. Working alongside top-tier Hollywood studios, streaming platforms, independent distributors, and A-list talent, Titan1 acquires, packages, and structures a premium content slate scaled from agile $1M USD indie feature films up to $5M+ USD per episode television series.
Position Overview
Titan1Studios is seeking a seasoned, forward-thinking Vice President, Physical & Post Production to lead operational, physical, and post-production execution across our expanding slate.
Reporting jointly to the CEO & Executive Producer and the President, Entertainment & Media, this executive will oversee physical and post-production workflows across Titan1’s expanding pipeline—from agile $1M USD indie features to high-budget $5M+ USD per episode cross-border TV series (30M+ total budget tier). The VP will act as Titan1’s primary physical production leader, collaborating with major studio/streamer partners, independent financiers, top-tier showrunners, directors, and Canadian production infrastructure.
This role requires a dynamic leader capable of scaling operations efficiently, managing unionized studio pipelines, and integrating cutting-edge, technology-driven workflows across physical sets, VFX, and post-production environments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Physical Production Oversight & Slate Execution
- Oversee all phases of physical production—pre-production, principal photography, wrap, and post—across Titan1’s full slate ($1M USD indie films to $5M+ USD/ep series).
- Build, vet, and approve production budgets, master shooting schedules, cash flow projections, and cost reporting tailored to project scope (agile indie models vs. studio-mandated reporting).
- Source, hire, and oversee key production personnel, including Line Producers, Unit Production Managers (UPMs), Production Controllers, and key Department Heads.
- Negotiate facility, stage, camera, lighting, and vendor agreements across major Canadian production hubs (Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Montreal).
2. Studio, Financier & Executive Leadership Relations
- Serve as Titan1’s senior physical production liaison with studio production executives, streaming partners, independent financiers, distributor deliverables teams, showrunners, and directors.
- Partner directly with the CEO & Executive Producer and President, Entertainment to align physical execution with corporate growth objectives and creative vision.
- Lead weekly production status updates, cost-report reviews, and risk mitigation strategies with executive leadership and external partners.
3. Production Technology & Emerging Workflows
- Champion and integrate current and emerging production technologies, including Virtual Production (ICVFX/LED volumes), real-time engines, digital asset management, and cloud-based dailies/editorial pipelines.
- Evaluate and implement modern production technologies—such as AI-assisted workflows in pre-visualization, scheduling, post-production, localization, and VFX—to maximize budget efficiency without compromising creative quality.
- Establish secure, modern data management, cybersecurity, and remote collaboration standards for cross-border production teams.
4. Canadian Tax Credits, Guilds & Regulatory Compliance
- Structure and manage Canadian Production Services Tax Credit (PSTC) filings, provincial incentives (Creative BC, Ontario Creates, Alberta Film Commission), CAVCO rules, and federal/provincial co-venture guidelines.
- Lead relationship management and collective bargaining compliance across indie agreements and major Canadian industry guilds: ACTRA, DGC, IATSE (Locals 891, 669, 873), and Teamsters.
- Oversee immigration logistics, LMIA-exempt work permit processing, and union courtesies for incoming international talent.
- Partner with production accounting and external auditing firms (e.g., KPMG, EY, Welch LLP) to manage cost report audits and tax credit monetization.
5. Post-Production & VFX Management
- Direct post-production operations from prep through final delivery, establishing post budgets, schedules, facility deals, and delivery specs for both indie features and studio TV series.
- Oversee post-production supervisors, editorial teams, sound design, color grading, ADR, and localization vendors.
- Manage complex visual effects (VFX) workflows, vendor contracting, and shot-tracking systems across genre films and heavy-VFX series.
- Ensure strict compliance with studio and streamer Quality Control (QC), archiving, and technical master delivery requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10–15+ years of progressive physical and post-production leadership experience in scripted television drama and feature films.
- Demonstrated track record managing physical production across a wide budget spectrum: from 1M–5M USD indie feature films to 3M–5M+ USD per episode premium television series.
- Practical, working knowledge of current and emerging production technologies, including virtual production, LED volumes, cloud-based post workflows, and tech-driven production management tools.
- Background as a Studio VP of Physical Production, Executive in Charge of Production (EICP), or lead Line Producer on major cross-border projects.
- Deep operational mastery of Canadian production service mechanics, cross-border finance, and federal/provincial film tax credit structures.
- Robust relationships with Canadian line producers, production managers, union executives, stage facilities, post houses, and vendor networks across Canada.
- Proven experience collaborating directly with major Hollywood studios, global streaming platforms, and indie distributors.
- High financial acumen, sharp contract negotiation skills, and high-level problem-solving capabilities under tight timelines.
