The ADA is seeking a dynamic thought leader to advance its strategic vision, grounded in human rights and focused on improving access to optimal health and healthcare for all. This Vice President will report to the Chief Quality Officer and serve as a solution-driven partner across the organization. The ideal candidate will collaborate across various sectors to implement strategies that lead to positive health outcomes, leveraging community-based solutions to guide both local and national advocacy priorities.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and provide thought leadership for initiatives within the Access and Quality Portfolio, driving program renewal discussions and scaling successful community interventions with community-based organizations and local health systems.
- Serve as the lead for diabetes technology and cardiometabolic health management in primary care.
- Assist in the development, review, and implementation of grant programs and proposals. Ensure alignment with ADA’s strategic vision and community impact goals.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Alliances Team to engage corporate partners, healthcare professionals, community organizations, and civic leaders to build support and resources for programs that drive sustainable and scalable health outcomes.
- Review and align with local community-driven assessments to help inform future programmatic solutions, ensuring alignment with community needs and future advocacy priorities related to policy, system, and environmental change.
- Work with the Metrics and Evaluations Team to develop data sources, metrics, and analytics that measure the effectiveness of health access programs and initiatives.
- Partner with the Science and Health Care Team to ensure comprehensive diabetes research, supporting principal investigators who represent communities most impacted by diabetes and social determinants of health.
- Establish and cultivate relationships with social and civic membership organizations to create regional and national partnerships aimed at amplifying diabetes awareness and education within local communities.
- Engage credibly with internal and external stakeholders, including professional volunteers, donors, sponsors, and community constituents.
- Serve as the primary liaison for 1-2 national board committees, providing leadership, support, and ensuring alignment with ADA’s strategic priorities.
- Attend in-person events, conferences, and meetings to increase visibility for ADA’s health access efforts and advocacy initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree or higher in public health, social sciences, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in community engagement, public health, health promotion, public relations, fundraising, or a related field. Experience in managing personnel (direct and indirect management) is essential.
- Experience with diabetes technology and/or cardiometabolic health.
- Experience with large primary care networks.
- Proven ability to lead and manage teams, with experience influencing and collaborating across departments.
- Proven track record of collaboration and influencing stakeholders across functional areas to achieve organizational goals.
- Membership in a national professional, civic or social organization is preferred, particularly in a leadership role.
- Available for occasional travel (20-25% of the time).
