As a values-driven organisation, integrity, collaboration, agility, and inclusion are at the heart of how we work and interact with each other, customers, patients and suppliers.

As Vice President, Strategic Alliance Management, you will serve as the senior executive sponsor and primary point of contact for strategic customer partnerships. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining executive-level relationships, ensuring operational excellence across the client's portfolio, and driving growth across all ICON service lines. Working in close partnership with cross-functional operational leaders, you will provide strategic oversight of alliance performance, customer satisfaction, governance activities, and long-term business planning. You will represent the voice of the customer within ICON while ensuring successful delivery of services and identifying opportunities to expand and strengthen strategic partnerships.

What You Will Do:

  • Serve as the executive sponsor and primary strategic contact for assigned clients, building trusted relationships and representing the customer perspective across ICON.
  • Lead and strengthen strategic partnerships by overseeing alliance governance, portfolio performance, and long-term account planning.
  • Partner with cross-functional and service line leaders to ensure successful delivery, quality outcomes, and a best-in-class client experience.
  • Drive resolution of complex operational, quality, financial, and relationship issues while managing risks and escalations.
  • Develop and execute account growth strategies in collaboration with Business Development, identifying opportunities to expand ICON's service offerings.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, financial health, and key metrics, providing strategic insights and updates to senior leadership.
  • Lead executive governance activities, including Steering Committees and business reviews, to align stakeholders and advance partnership objectives.

What You Need:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Significant experience in clinical research, drug development, and/or the CRO, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industry.
  • Proven success leading strategic client partnerships, alliance management activities, or large, complex customer portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of clinical development, project delivery, and operational oversight within a global environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with senior internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership.
  • Excellent relationship management, communication, negotiation, and strategic planning skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as business needs require; prior Alliance Management experience is preferred.
  • Live in the US; strongly prefer East Coast location. Candidates in UK or Ireland will be considered.

Employment with ICON is contingent upon having the legal right to work in the country where the role is based.
